The M32 6-speed box is fitted to non-Vauxhalls too, notably Alfa Romeo and Fiat. I have spoken with three gearbox rebuild specialists and they all agree that the main problem is caused by inadequate lubrication, and that the factory spec oil is far too thin to be man enough for the job.
My local repairer has a complete blog on the subject which is worth a read. Although he also quotes prices for specific repairs it is worth noting that if you leave the box too long without attention you will probably end up needing more than one procedure and the bill will go up accordingly. My Brera Spider cost me £1100 to fix after VAT.
