This is a How for Factory DAB and Integrated FM and Shark Fin Ariel.
for the CD400 with out the Rear Glass Already in Place.
If you have The NAV500 or 600 Go to the How to for The NAV500/600.
So if you have the CD400 Follow Here...
The first thing you are going to have Get is the Tail Gate from a car that has DAB
it will have to be Complete with Looms in Place and not Cut
As all the Looms will be Needed to Swap Over to your car
The Receivers for FM and DAB will also be Swapped as well as the Glass.
By far the best way is to Buy the Tail Gate in Good Condition and the Same Color and Just Swap it over
At around £250 Complete Is about the Wright Price for that so its the More Expensive option Here.
the Tail Gate that i got the Panel was Damaged so i got the Lot for £75
Plus £50 to Swap the Glass from the Tail Gate to may car.
You can just Skip the Glass and Tail Gate
If you want and just Buy a DAB and FM roof Mast Ariel
but again there not Cheep and for a Good one there around the £100 mark,
if you do go with this Option just skip the First part and follow the rest.
STEP ONE..........
Get a Tail Gate and Remove the Glass first
i found a friendly Local Mobile Glass Fitter and got him to Remove the Glass first
as most of the Looms that are needed are Clipped in Behind the Glass
so you can not get them out Complete with the Glass in Place
i called him back when i had Swapped the Looms over to Refit the Rear Glass to my car
when i had everything in Place.
Note this is the Main Connector from the Tail Gate to the Body Loom
the rear washer Hose also Joins up here and must also be Disconnected
it just Pulls out and Pushes back in but be Careful it does not Leek when Refitting
its best to Remove the Interior Boot Trim to get Access to the Location
off this Connector just above the Fuse Box in the Boot
follow the FLEX floor Thread for Trim Removal.
STEP TWO...........
These are the Tabs you will need on the New Glass for the FM and DAB Receivers.
STEP THREE.........
This is the (FM Suppressor ZA) and Connects up in between the Heater Matrix.
STEP FOUR........
This is the (FM Module ZK) the Black Fakra Z Cable 1 meter
And goes to the (FM Receiver MA) at the Top of the Glass
The white Fakra z Cable 2 meters will go too the
Existing Female End of the FM Ariel Cable in the roof
that you unplug from the old Roof Mast Ariel.
STEP FIVE.........
This is the (FM Rreceiver MA).
STEP SIX.........
This is the (DAB Receiver ZR)
A 5 meter fakra z Cable Female to Female
will run from here to the front Module.
STEP SEVEN........
Both the farkra z Cables will run Through the Right Hand Side Gator on the Tail Gate
One to the DAB Module
And one to the FM Cable.
This is the old FM Cable unplug it
And Reconnect the new FM Cable from the Glass.
You can now Remove the old Roof Rast Ariel
And Throw it away as this now has no use
the FM will now work from the Rear Glass
so you can now put the Shark Fin on top
this has no Function apart from Looking Good.
That's the FM all Working now.....
This is the Point were you can now Follow
if you went for the DAB FM Roof Ariel Option..
You will need a 5 Meter Fakra Z
Female to Female Cable
one end will go to the Roof Mast Ariel
Or the (ZA receiver) on the Rear Glass
This Cable will go to the Front off the Car
And Come out very Near the Bonnet open Catch
in the front Drivers Foot Well
If you have a feel just Behind the Trim Behind the Bonnet Open Catch
you will Find a Blue Male Double fakra Connector.
One side will go to the DAB Module and one side is Blank
Join the Double Female End to the Double Male.
Place The single fakra Z Male End to the Female 5 meter Cable from the rear
the small Wire in the Photo below is not Needed.
You can now fit the DAB Receiver
Located just above the Bonnet open Catch.
You will find the Green Connector and the Black Connector
just above the Accelerator Peddle
Connect both too the Module
the Module is held in Place by a Bracket and one Screw
Your are now Ready for Programming and VCI codes.
The DAB will now Work,
DAB Module Part Numbers are
for the (Astra J 13319590 UBT.)
and for the (GTC 13362385 UBT.)
The Cradle for the DAB unit Part Number is (GM 13263525.)
AS WITH ALL ELECTRICAL HOW TOO,S.
you do this at your own risk if you follow the how to correctly
there should be no problems thank you.
i am still in the process of this retro fit i have every thing now in place
i just need the module and programming done now
so i will up date when i get it all done and up and running
there are a few different options for the way the FM will be received
ether from the standard Ariel on the roof
or from the rear glass this option will be for the cd500 etc
as they use the shark fin for satnav.
so in your case you have the DAB but you get the FM from the roof
you need to check a few things but yes it will be possible to get the FM
from the rear glass
first do you have all the tabs in place on the rear glass
and also check to see if the FM Ariel on the roof is attached to a cable
check them and come back here.
thinking about this your best option as i take it you use your DAB more than the FM
rusty found an FM Ariel that attaches to the heater matrix
and was cheep you could go down that route

In the end mate I had to go back to a roof mounted one as every time I went though trees etc I lost signal not good at all.
I want the full rear window setup you have, I'll have to come and nick your's lol..
looking at that you have the bottom FM receiver there
so now you are going to have to remove the trim
and see what is behind there
you may just be missing the top receiver and a farkra cable
if that is that case it will be very cheep for you do to this
Thinking about it I can't see me using the FM much.
How easy is it to switch to a shark fin?
I've found a non functional one on eBay.
Just want it for looks really but want to be able to swap it back if I sell it down the line.
Also thinking of painting the Ariel same colour as the car before fitting.

3 minutes max disconnect the farkra cable remove 1 10mm bolt from Ariel base and that's it
it is a one of a kind i made it my self by swapping the circuit from an a mast Ariel
and converting it in to the shark fin.
as i say it does work but will get a bit of static now and again
its no perfect but it does work
but as you use the DAB it would be perfect for you
and you wont lose the FM.

latest update i now have the DAB module
so everything is now in place and all connected up and all wired up for the DAB and FM retro fit
i only need the programming done now.
and then all will be working.
Yes it sure is the cheapest way to get this done is to find a tail gate complete it will save you lots of £ I am sure Vxmods can also help but you will need the glass for sure
Not sure how much the DAB module is but eBay is best shout for a rough price or contact VXmods.
Also depends if you want to keep the FM signal and run it through rear window, if so you will need the correct glass. correct glass or not. I did some research into it a few weeks ago. I already have the correct window and I was looking at around £120 for the remaining parts.
the glass is the hard part i got the complete hatch glass and all receivers for £75 as the boot was damaged £25 to swap the glass over £50 for the module
and about £25 on cables and i got the programing for free when i had the satnav done
it can be done cheap you've just got to get lucky and find the correct hatch
look for a shark fin on a car that is braking then you know it will have all parts on there
Would a DAB module from another car work or are they locked? I know the stereo would need coding to activate DAB just wondering if the modules had a security setting/device.
I've not got it yet, I'm in the planning stage and gathering an idea of what I need. I'll be looking into something like what @rusty2009 has just fit. I've also found another alternative
That's surprising, as the website gave it a good review. Does your mast do DAB? What did you make to it? To be honest, I'm not overly fussed on the shark fin. Even though it would like good, I'd rather have spot on signal.

it looks like you dont have the two connectors needed the are taped up behind the accelerator pedal
one green and one black the cable runs to the bonnet catch
got a pic for you but not the best
if they are not there you can not do it as they go to the back of the cd400
but if you ask andy from vx mods he will be able to make a loom for sure
let him know i sent you and i will tell him what you need
by the way what year and model is your car as you are the second i know of now
who have not had them there but they are there on nearly all cars

Do you think you could do it rusty as I know your very good at this sort of thing you don't need the green plug as a fakra z will just go from the back window to the DAB unit just need the plug on the DAB to the back of the CD400
I really ought to check mine to make sure I've got it, I have the CD500 Navi with shark fin, but I do have the 'Dummy' wire on my rear windscreen, so whether I need just the box and lead from the screen to the window... or more.. we'll find out lol.
