with 0cdti mpg 2 dissapointed

Dissapointed with 2.0cdti mpg
#1
So I've had my astra sports toured a week and I'm pretty pleased with everything except the fuel economy im averaging about 42-44 mpg and thats in eco mode driving sensibly. My old car I traded in was a 09 vectra 1.9diesel and it averaged 49ish.
I thought with this being a newer car ( 2015 with 22k on.) I'd at least get something similar to the vectra.

So for those who've a standard 2.0 what you getting mpg wise.

I've had mine for about three years now, and general running around with the occasional longer runs I get about the same as you, 42-44 mpg. However on the Poland runs keeping it to about 110-120kph for the majority of the run I get about 54-56 mpg, but I tend to put better spec fuel in while in Europe as is a lot cheaper than here.

And to think i nearly bought a focus... I know remappers claim to be able to increase fuel efficiency but is it just a sales pitch ?

I get approx. 37mpg on an urban run which consists of a daily slow crawl to work and bumbling around at the weekends, and something like 44mpg on a run to Birmingham from Oxford from my 2.0 CDTi auto.

That's calculated mileage btw. Not what the fuel computer says, which shows something like 40mpg (urban) and 48 for motorway trips.

I used to get 50+ mpg from my chipped 150 cdti vectra SRi, but a volvo 1.6D and two Golf 110bhp 1.6 diesels I have had afterwards only gave 45 mpg at best

So it's not just the vauxhalls with poor mpg

I get about 50MPG (calculated not trip computer). Thats from driving mainly country roads and in town.

So what could be the cause of such poor mpg? Is it worth getting it checked out?

I got 57mpg on a four hour motorway drive at the weekend, been averaging around 44mpg since so I don't think yours is too bad. Mine's a 2012 2.0 ecoflex.

42-44 mpg sounds about right for the 2.0 Cdti. I averaged 44 mpg over 50k. 80% motorway.

In comparison my focus 1.5 tdci does 55 mpg same route, same driving style. Smile

Mine is running around 41.8 at the moment, it's been remapped and I've a pretty heavy pair of driving shoes.

I live about 2 miles from work so only do short journeys, I've been averaging about 36MPG. Took it for a blast to Kent over Xmas visiting relatives and got 57 mainly on motorways.

My 2.0cdti has improved on it's MPG round the doors I'm getting 36-38MPG and on a slight run I was upto 48MPG.

Got a run down to mine-head this month so will see what I can get a longer run. it would appear it was the fuel rail pressure sensor at fault on mine and it wasn't flagging up the system.

My 1.7 CDTI 130BHP gives 35mpg on pure city driving ,55mpg constant on pure motorway journey and when driving mix about 30 percent city and 70 percent motorwar .it gives me 46mpg.This is actual calculated MPG brim to brim .however the trip computer is very optimistic in my case .sometime the difference is upto 10 MPG and difference is never less than 7 mpg between real and trip.
Is there any way to re-calibrate the mpg to close up the gap perhaps using op-com.

I wish i could find how to re calibrate it .i filled up today to the brim ,44 litres for 464 miles that accounts to 47MPG, trip is showing 57 MPG that is insane.not even close ,completely made up.
I know its never accurate but difference that big is unfathomable.

When in GDS2 today I found something that may interest you.

Calculated fuel economy setup, within this you can enter the details etc.

It's under ECU, configuration/reset functions, calculated fuel economy setup.
