Updated DRL lights
#1
Hi,

My Astra has still not arrived, however driving to work this morning a J came toward me with what looked like OEM DRLs. Would these units fit into my 2012 model (when it arrives) without any issues?

Sorry if this has already been asked before. When searching on DRLs it pulls up 1001 results

not 100% sure they can be fitted you would need to get the headlamp units and the ballasts, the car may need to be told it has LED DRL's.

Hmm, I think it may need programming but not 100%.

These are the lights I mean

Yes I know what lights you meant it's not been done as of yet, so we can't be 100% sure.

It took a long time for the AFL lighting system retrofit to be worked out.

Do you see them being module controlled as opposed to standard LEDs then?

Because they are LEDS they need to ballast to stop any errors.

If I'm honest as long as you get the LED headlights and ballasts they should more than likely be plug and play as I don't recall any wiring changes.

as rusty says you need the factory ballasts as well
you also risk the LED lights overheating without them and you dont want that to happen

you can retro fit LED bulbs they would be the cheaper option and look much better

i use the terminator HID KIT very good but the GTC will need different a different bulb type
it is totally error free and 4000k is the best for vision but 5000k is also ok
as rusty says baz did a how to for the GTC sure he can comment on what he used as well
