Haha, me too. From what I've read it's not age or mileage related. It's just how they've been driven. So maybe they can't take much abuse so as long as your not a 'can't find it grind it' kind of driver it should be ok. Also said watch out for ones over 80k. Mine will be nearly at 90k once the finance is paid.

I had a 1.9cdti Sporthatch with the M32 box it was on 115k no problems and was mapped to 220bhp can't remember the torque figure. Only problem I had was the dmf failed at 85k. Mine used to get alot of abuse. Traffic light races will kill the box if mapped

The M32 6-speed box is fitted to non-Vauxhalls too, notably Alfa Romeo and Fiat. I have spoken with three gearbox rebuild specialists and they all agree that the main problem is caused by inadequate lubrication, and that the factory spec oil is far too thin to be man enough for the job.
My local repairer has a complete blog on the subject which is worth a read. Although he also quotes prices for specific repairs it is worth noting that if you leave the box too long without attention you will probably end up needing more than one procedure and the bill will go up accordingly. My Brera Spider cost me £1100 to fix after VAT.

I have an Alfa Romeo 2.2 Brera M32 fitted to my z22se vx220, it has much better gear ratios than the vauxhall M32 boxes.
