No, tell them about it so they can map it in as well.

I'll let them know and see what they suggest I guess, company is VRT based in slough, used them before when I had a SEAT 1.6 TDI, wasn't sure they did anything but VAG motors but they have said they have experience mapping others. www.vrtonline.co.uk

remap didn't happen today as the ECU needs to be sent off due to garage unable to get around password that had been set at some point when the car had previously had a software update. not sure when I can afford car to be off the road for 3-4 days so think i'll just have to live with car as is, which to be honest at 165bhp is still a massive step up from the previous car.

I did wonder if you would hit the problem of needing the ECU out, the later mode 2.0cdti 165'sl J's appear to have an ecu that is more difficult for tuners to crack
Yeah, I had the same issue on my 165 when I had it booked in for a remap. Apparently only the very latest mapping tools (pricey) can write back to the ecu on this model. (stop/start edition)

Weird to think one of "larger" brands has an ecu that cant easily be cracked, however, I guess their are far more Audi/VW/Seat/Skodas out there, which is where the tuning market seems pretty focused

Newer bmws are also tricky to crack according to the lad who was doing mine. He was quoted 2500 odd quid for the newer tools. He was still paying off his newly installed dyno.....
