Welcome back to the VXOC FORUM.
Sorry for our lack of support over the last year but MYBB is back and so are we.
Let's get the forum buzzing again... (March 25, 2022)x
I have a 2012 registered Opel Astra. 57k kilometers. It has received an interim service every calendar year. When i am stationery and just beginning to take off or when i am driving very slowly(really slowly) i get a strange noise coming from the passenger side(either towards front wheel or towards back wheel). It like a squeaking noise.
Noise doesnt seem to be present when going faster.
ADDITIONALLY as mentioned the car has only get an interim service every year since purchased (6 interim services) which is really only the oil change and filter change. At 57k kilometers is there anything else i should be worrying about?
I currently have a 2013 63plate astra sports tourer 2.0 cdti auto 165 it's coming up to 6 years old in December 2019 and so many people have told me different intervals for the cambelt.
I have only covered 31000 miles I'm getting told 6 years or 100000 miles and some garages say 10 years or 100000 miles.
If anyone can clear this up for me please oh and also do the water pumps run off the cambelt still or has this now been changed on these engines.
Another newbie here from N.I, but resident in Southampton. Bought a 2.0 Sri 13 plate Astra yesterday, after previously having a Twintop, and a MK4 Astra. ( yes I like my astras) was gutted having to get rid of my twintop, with summer coming, however the cost of repairing a head gasket blow out was more money that i was willing to fork out.
ANYHOOO, had my new car a day, and am slowly getting used to it, he’s got a hell of a lot more poke than the TT, and a lot more buttons to footer about with.
Initial plans are to upgrade the CD400 to an OEM DAB radio, and have some functionality in there to charge my phone / plug my phone in.
Hey guys, I’ve recently bought a 2015 Astra Sri 1.4vvt, it’s got the standard 17” 5 spoke alloys with a notch out of each spoke, I’m looking to upgrade to 18” alloys of the similar style but the notch is just a touch longer, I believe these won’t fit as the pcd is different on a Diesel Astra and I was wondering if the mokka wheels will go on as the pcd is the same but the offset is marginally different? Also I’m looking to polybush the whole suspension but everywhere I’ve checked only lists the powerflex handling pack for the vxr/gtc/opc, would these bushes still fit for the rear arms, wishbones etc? Many thanks in advance
Seemed to work fine with no errors but this morning on the way to work the dash said "check right dipped beam lamp" then the same with the left.
Not really an issue until the right one went out. Then the left one. Turned the lights off a minute then back on and they worked for a minute then the right one seems to keep going out.
Any ideas on what to check? I'll add a few pics
Could they be overheating or anything to download other the stop-start?
I find it strange that there's a fan at the back of them then your putting a cap straight over the fan?

5-star Defaqto GAP Cover from Chris Knott
If a new car is on the cards you might be interested in protecting its value with either 'Return To Invoice GAP' or 'Finance GAP' cover.
Chris Knott's combined RTI/Finance GAP Cover is 5-star Defaqto rated - meaning it has been independently assessed as providing the highest levels of cover. We're so confident you'll like it too that you can try it risk-free for 30 days.
100% money back guarantee
During that time, if you decide for whatever reason it doesn't meet your needs, as long as you haven't made a claim you can request a full refund.
THE KEY BENEFITS:
- Top-up your motor insurance payout in the event of a total loss claim
- Get back to the original invoice price or settle any outstanding finance/lease (whichever is greater)
- For cars (and commercial vehicles under 3,500kg) upto 10 years old/100,000 miles
- Covers vehicles valued right up to £180,000
- Unlimited claims coverage on cars upto £50,000
- 5-star Defaqto rating - the highest level possible
- PCP/Contract Hire/Lease Hire - all acceptable
- 30-day cooling-off period
- Upto £250 of your motor excess refunded
- Arrange cover upto 100 days after vehicle purchase
You'll also get your money back if there is no gap following a total loss...
That's right, you'll receive a full premium refund if your car is written-off or stolen and there's no shortfall between your motor insurer's payout and the invoice purchase price. This could arise, for example, where you buy a heavily discounted vehicle and the total loss comes before the vehicle has depreciated enough to create a gap.

I've used Vauxhalls for a load of years and would at one point have been pretty active on VVOC. Went through 2 x VECTRA B, Vectra B 2.5 GSi, Signum 2.8i Design, moved to Honda Accord Tourer for a bit and broke an 'unbreakable' engine, had a BMW 318i Saloon that I couldn't get on with the boot shape with so I've just got an Astra J Estate. Bit of an engine downgrade from the thirsty motors to a 1.7 diesel but it'll hopefully do the job as more of a family wagon. Now to start opening my wallet and pulling things apart, since I've already read all the how to's and I've only got the car today.
