Android Auto Install
Posted by: Marek - 3:rd-Aug-2018, 07:53:47 - Forum: ICE - Replies (3)

Hi there. I know there's a few amazing threads and how-tos showing how to upgrade to a touchscreen HU, but I had some questions:

My 2013 Astra J has the Navi 600 with the colour screen. I've looked at the options available for example in the Android Auto section of caraudiodirect (http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/head-units/android-auto). Can one of these just be swapped with the current screen using a new surround and the relevant loom, or does it have to go where all the controls are and I need to swap out the whole fascia?
And if the latter is the case, will I have two screens and is the original one just redundant?
Also, do the controls in the steering wheel still work with these HUs?

Thanks in advance for your help!

  auto transmission fluid change
Posted by: niteram - 1:st-Aug-2018, 20:47:15 - Forum: Mechanical - Replies (4)

right then,
my 1.6 petrol tourer has developed a leak from the transmission cooler pipe at the radiator end.
I have a new (genuine) connector/seal to fit, the pipe is NLA
but there will be an amount of oil lost during the remove/refit process plus the unknown quantity already lost.

rather than top up the fluid, I guess it would be better to change the fluid,

I've read the workshop manual instructions online which seems fairly straightforward until the part where it says

"the fluid level must only be checked in conjuntion with the fluid temperature - see diagnostic tool"

I don't have any GM diagnostics,  what would be best to get (and cost) or would it just be more cost effective to pay someone to change the connector and the fluid?

  Air con pully/clutch question
Posted by: Jdswifty - 1:st-Aug-2018, 18:57:47 - Forum: Mechanical - Replies (2)

Anyone on here had any luck with servicing the pully/clutch on a 2.0 cdti?
Had it into a garrage today who want to replace the whole pump for £500
But can't get a part until next week.
Have a long drive this weekend (over 1000 miles) and I don't fancy being without air conditioning

The center of the pully tries to catch when air conditioning switched on so I'm pretty confident it's the clutch mech thst is gubbed

Brakes be protesting too much, shopping list anyone?
Posted by: umognog - 1:st-Aug-2018, 16:45:20 - Forum: Astra-J/GTC - Replies (14)

After having my local do a clean up job after some squeeling noise from what I thought was the nearside rear.... It's back :( previously the mechanic said the nearside rear showed signs of heat stress and the caliper was mighty tough stuck, to keep and eye on it however...

It's a different wheel this time offside rear, but very obvious blue hue to the disc where it has gotten very hot from the pad rubbing it so I have decided to do a complete pad & disc change, whilst cleaning up the calipers myself.

I'm getting myself some tool upgrades though and want to ask folks for a shopping list here. Keep in mind I have epb if required for anything.

Ebc yellowstuff pads DP42066R
D1748 discs
Tube of ceratec
Silicon grease

Rewind tool - um am I looking for what way round here?

12V impact wrench (just looking for something that will take the grunt out of removing most bolts/nuts, I'll still be going to old faithful manual for putting things ON )

Pair of new axel stands (ive been going for stacked wood for too long)

Once the backs are done, the fronts are getting it after pay day!

Thanks for the input folks

  A14NET Injectors
Posted by: Jessy - 30:th-Jul-2018, 18:41:45 - Forum: Mechanical - No Replies

Hello everyone,

The A14NET has 4 Bosch  0 280 158 205 injectors.
the injectors share a few more models..

I looked for information about them, and unfortunately i could not get any data info.
All sales sites indicate that they are 213cc at 3 bar, But the Astra (A14NET) run's 5.5 Bar fuel pressure!

i would be happy to have some help with the information abot this subject,
If anyone can calculate accurately and specify how much each injector volume at a pressure of 5.5 bar?

Thanks in advance,

Jessy

Would these GTC wheels on my Sedan cause any problems?
Posted by: astra777 - 29:th-Jul-2018, 14:04:35 - Forum: Request for information - Replies (2)

Hey everyone.

I own a 2015 Opel Astra Sedan (1.6 CDTi 136PS)

I found 8.5x20 wheels from a wrecked Astra J GTC. I wanna change my OEM 7x17s (225/50 R17) to those.

They both have same bolt patterns (5x115)

Would that change cause any issues (to speedometer, ABS, traction control etc)? Because general fact is more than +3% increase  is not recommended and It's about +6.9% change to the tire size.

But they're also Astra wheels so I'm confused about what should I do.

I'm thinking to get brand new 245/40 R20 tires if you guys approve the purchase.

What should I do? Thanks in advance.
