| 2014 Astra 1.6 Elite - No DAB / Bluetooth - Can I add? |

Hi I'm looking to upgrade my 2009 VAUXHALL ASTRA SXI CDTI to a 2014 VAUXHALL ASTRA ELITE 1.6.
The Elite is a good price (£5500), from a Vauxhall dealership (so comes with all the benefits of buying from them) with a decent mileage (40k).
However, two things I wanted in my next car was DAB and Bluetooth. This has neither already installed.
What are my options?
I don't really want a windscreen DAB aerial with an FM transmitter.
I'm going into test drive the car this week, and make an offer. Hopefully they'll take my car as a trade-in.
If I ask for DAB and Bluetooth to be installed "properly" as part of the sale are they likely to do this for me? Would they have access to all the right kit?
It doesn't have to be brand new, but it does need to look good with no cables.

<<<THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS, THREAD WILL BE INCOMPLETE AND MAY CONTAIN INVALID INFORMATION UNTILL FURTHER NOTICE>>>
*this how to is heavily based on a russian howto, and pictures are temporarily used, credit goes to Sarzamas & GSN.
*This tutorial is for a LEFT HAND DRIVE Astsra. (steering wheel on the left)
*Any help and suggestions with this tutorial is highly welcomed
Howdy folks,
During these winter days, i notice my vehicle is very slow to warm up.
As it's a diesel, it'll also clog up the DPF quickly if i leave it running overnight.
So there was a option called "Quickheat", which is basically a big electric heating element.
It turns on the moment your car is running and the heater dial is turned on. Quick-heat will help defrost when the outside temp is less than 13c
Once your vehicle is warmed up, Quick-heat will turn off and let the engine heat take over.
installation (car fully prepared):
Things you'll need:
-Quickheat element. GM 13276270 or GM 13265204
These are horribly expensive new, and i highly recommend find them used. These can be found in the Opel/Vauxhall Zafira, Insignia, Meriva / Chevrolet Cruze & Orlando.

Here we go!
Pull off the side panel that sits next to the glovebox, this is held in with clips. Can be quite stiff. (MIND THE AIRBAG SWITCH)
Then unscrew the 4 bolts holding the glovebox in it's place. the glovebox then just pulls out.
![[Image: 5g7f8es-960.jpg]](https://a.d-cd.net/5g7f8es-960.jpg)
Remove the lower kick panels of your lower console, these are held in with clips and can be pulled off easily.
I find that the easiest method is prying behind the seam that sits closest to the seat.
![[Image: ef7f8es-960.jpg]](https://a.d-cd.net/ef7f8es-960.jpg)
Remove the rubber matt in your middle console, then pry the plastic plate out. P
![[Image: f4d3c2es-960.jpg]](https://a.d-cd.net/f4d3c2es-960.jpg)
pull off the gearbox boot, this just pulls off.
![[Image: 16g22es-960.jpg]](https://a.d-cd.net/16g22es-960.jpg)
unscrew the two screws holding the center trim panel in place, then pull it up.
You don't need to remove the entire panel, just high enough for the upper kick panel to slide out.
![[Image: eg222es-960.jpg]](https://a.d-cd.net/eg222es-960.jpg)
Remove the upper kick panel by sliding it towards you, DO NOT try to pull it off.
![[Image: 216adces-960.jpg]](https://a.d-cd.net/216adces-960.jpg)
Remove the plastic airduct by removing the two bolts that hold it in place. The duct will need a little bit of maneuvring to pull out.

![[Image: 4d0adces-960.jpg]](https://a.d-cd.net/4d0adces-960.jpg)
Remove the cover plate on the heater housing, it's clipped in. Very fragile however...
![[Image: b7277es-960.jpg]](https://a.d-cd.net/b7277es-960.jpg)
Insert the quickheat element as pictured below, big power connectors to the left, and the control plug to the right. You'll need to provide your own self tapping screws.
![[Image: 79d677es-960.jpg]](https://a.d-cd.net/79d677es-960.jpg)
The smaller control plug can be find hidden somewhere in the dashboard. it usually sits on the same wire that goes to the glovebox light, or can be pushed somewhere close to the passenger airbag.
The large connector for the the power wires can be found hidden underneath the carpet. on the other side of the lower console.
Simply remove the kick panel of the left side and search underneath the carpet, you'll find it taped away.
![[Image: bf0177es-960.jpg]](https://a.d-cd.net/bf0177es-960.jpg)
Plug everything into the unit.
Make sure the fusebox underneath has the 100a fuse connected.
You may need to provide your own fuse, if the cable is not visible in the fusebox, it's tucked away underneath the fusebox or coolant bottle

The retrofit is complete!
All that is left is having it programmed, this can be done at your local Vauxhall / Opel dealer,
or Rusty of course.

*pictures belong to various Russian users of Drive2, these will be updated with my own pics or other members the moment i attempt this myself*
*This tutorial is for a LEFT HAND DRIVE Astsra. (steering wheel on the left)
Checking if your vehicle is prepared:
-100A fuse:
A good way to check if your vehicle is prepared (full or half) is by checking if there is a 100a fuse located in the fusebox underneath your bonnet.
This can be connected to a wire or not, both indicate that the big 10mm² wiring is fitted in your vehicle.
![[Image: MhFviEA.jpg]](https://i.imgur.com/MhFviEA.jpg)
Big plug:
If you have the 100a fuse above, chances are big that you'll have a big two Pin plug underneath your carpet.
Start by removing the lower left side kick panel on your dash.
It simply pulls off, help on by clips.
However there is one clasp you have to undo, it sits on the farthest end of the panel.
Slip your hand underneath the carpet and if you find a big connector (pictured below), you're in luck!
Your car is half or fully prepared for QuickHeat.
![[Image: sNXLerC.jpg]](https://i.imgur.com/sNXLerC.jpg)
Control connector:
Along with the above mentioned connector, you also need the signal connector, this tells Quickheat to turn on or off.
Remove this side panel next to the glovebox, it pulls off...But it may be quite stiff.
Then remove the 4 screws that hold it the glovebox in place. The glovebox will simply pull out. (MIND THE LIGHT CONNECTOR)
