Chris Knott Insurance - PRE-SPRING OFFER

Hi,

Have you ever considered buying a Dash Cam?

Good news if you get a CAR insurance quote from club sponsor Chris Knott by the end of March - you'll be entered in our draw to WIN a Nextbase 522GW Dash Cam with rear-facing camera module and Sandisk 64Gb microSD card (all worth over £200).

In fact we'll even include you in the draw if you get a HOME insurance quote instead. Or you can have two entries if we quote you on both.

To see how much you could save on your CAR or HOME insurance through this club please call Chris Knott FREE.

QUOTELINE: 0800 917 2274 - you'll get your quote quicker if you call us when it's convenient to go through details.

ONLINE:
CAR - https://www.chrisknott.co.uk/CarQuote/?ref=DCES20
HOME - https://www.chrisknott.co.uk/HomeQuote/?ref=DCES20

Before you ask, no I'm afraid we don't offer any further discount if you have a Dash Cam installed. However, you will have the evidence you need should you be involved in a liability dispute with another driver following a claim.

We love car club members and enthusiasts - give us a call.

best,
Nick

  White Smelly Smoke
Posted by: RadicalRooster - 22:nd-Jan-2020, 12:09:10 - Forum: Astra-J/GTC - Replies (7)

Hi all,

Last week while it was raining a lot of steam was coming up from the radiator, so I took it back to the independent I bought it from as it's still under warranty.

They said they couldn't find anything wrong, they did a 2 hour compression test and all came back fine. No coolant loss. And it's not let out steam since.

However a new problem has arose...

When the engine is warm, I get a lot of white smoke out the back that smells awful, a bit like burnt rubber or perhaps coolant.

What could this be? Googling suggests a head gasket, but it wasn't doing this before the compression test and its not overheating or losing oil/coolant.

EDIT: Astra J 1.6 petrol manual SRI

  service vehicle soon
Posted by: stevedemp23 - 14:th-Jan-2020, 14:57:46 - Forum: Astra-J/GTC - Replies (2)

Just been out to my car this morning and the service vehicle soon message came on and vehicle went into limp mode. tried half an hour later and same thing. this afternoon i was going to take it to local garage and see what they said but used spare key this time as was going to leave car with them and service vehicle soon came on then went off and car drove as normal. I have noticed my keyfob has been acting up recently and was wondering if low battery in keyfob could cause SVS.

Evening all...
Obviously owning an Astra has brought me here ?
Purchased a 2012 GTC 2.0 CDTi S/S back in May & I love it!
Got a few ideas for it so come here for some insights
First question; Are the rear quarter windows bonded or held in place with nuts?
Anyone remapped their car? Company locally called DK tuning saying they can give 200bhp plus improved mpg. Anyone else had an experience with a remap?

Future mods include;
Lowered
VXR/LTD edition front bumper
Respray in metallic red (currently gloss red)

All suggestions greatly appreciated
