Hi all, joined a while ago but just realised I hadn't introduced myself. I'm Laurence from Scotland I've got a Astra j sports tourer 1.6 Sri 63 reg, had it a couple of years now and like some of the stuff you guy's have done, so far just wind deflectors and mud flaps then will get interior lights done,dab radio(connections at front and connection at rear in car) and few other stuff, going to try and get as much as possible then do the work when better weather. Just realised how long this is forgive have a brain injury and forgot a lot of things I knew and go on a bit apologies? ?, that's why the knowledge on this site is a big help?, thanks again and hope to annoy yous guy's soon. Just had my Eibachs delivered and was wondering if any of you have any hints or tips for when it comes to fitting them?

Anything I should consider before fitting or is it pretty straightforward?

My A20DTH160HP 2010 Insignia seems to be suffering from a worn out or damaged flywheel. It started with a small rattling noise and now, over the winter, the sound is louder than the aircon maxed out, the car vibrates at idle, it jutters whenever I shift gears or when I release the clutch pedal pulling off from a stand still. Engine braking also starts to sound like engine breaking.  

Everyone seems to suspect that the flywheel is either worn out or damaged (the dampening springs have completely worn out or broken). 

I've been told by a friend of mine, a driving instructor on a Golf, that he replaced his dual mass with a single mass flywheel and fitted a damped clutch disk to damp the vibrations. 

To be honest, I am a rather aggressive driver and ever since I got the car I wanted to put a single mass flywheel in it but I was not willing to actually do it without a good reason. It would seem that I now have a good reason.

So what do you guys think, have any of you done this to your car and if so, how is it to drive and where did you get the kit?

Hi my 2011 Astra J 1.7 CDTI has a strange noise that is getting more and more frequent, when i accelerate away and dip the clutch to change gear, there is a ghostly noise that starts off quiet and gets louder, it got worse when i changed the fuel filter, but then became less common for almost a year, but has now come back with a vengeance. I almost think it could be to do with fuel pressure?
Just wondered if anyone else had experienced this and how they got rid of it. The car itself drives fine with no issues at all

Ok so some little muthaf**ker has dediced to scuff the corner of my back bumper and do a runner. At this precise moment i can't afford to have it resprayed... How can i get the best finish with a touch up stick?

The wife has had a couple of prangs with the Astra! Firstly the front bumper took a hit, so the lower grill is broken and a crack in the lip below it and some minor paint damage above the upper grill.



The latest hit was with a wall and the rear wheel arch! it has about 6 deep scores but just on the arch where it meet the back door and above the wheel, should really take pictures!

Anyway I took it to a body shop and they want £482 to fix it! does that sound right?

Thought I'd start a thread to cover the new headlights I've got coming next week. Was hoping to use this thread to provide all information about them, pics, install tips and a review!

UPDATE: WILL POST A NEW LINK TO THE UNITS AS I'VE HAD TO RETURN THE ONES I BOUGHT DUE TO THEM NOT BEING COMPATIBLE WITH AUTO LEVELLING MOTORS

Anyway! Here's some pics of them from the seller:





You may be wondering how the inner bulb can be both white and orange...well! Basically these headlights come with both the wiring to make the inner bulb an always on side light (Use whatever bulb you like here) or an indicator! Unsure if the other wire dangles loose or tucks away when you're using the wiring for the other type of bulb but I'll let you know when I get them.

Now these DO NOT come with a motor in them for the auto levelling. Auto levelling is the little toggle on your headlight switch that lets you move the beam of light up and down. You can however (according to the listing) swap over your current motor which @rusty2009 tells me SHOULD be pretty easy. I'll be trying this when mine come next week.

On the factory headlight side they appear to just pull out...I'm not sure exactly how yet. The aftermarket headlights are apparently designed so the back comes off so you can easily swap the motors.
