sussed it out now finally Raimon...
I have had a go at changing some of the background files for day mode
and finally i now understand the Gm Res unpacker and packer for the nav 600/900 files
so here are the examples i have just done but they are not staying like this for long as i am looking for the carbon skin now for day mode
and i still need the other file names for the top and bottom bars etc but i will get a good day theme going at some point
but looks like i will need a better paint shop program first sp that's my next step.

so i have had a real good play about with the nav 600/900 files
and the gm unpacker and packer well sorted with that one now
i made loads of trile themes but most failed due to the fact you can not alter the color of the text
and black text with blue and very light gray text dont mix well with colors at all
so now i know why most modifie the night theme and not the day theme
i found that really very pale colors are needed to make the day theme work
heres a few i did that did not workout plus i have only just started messing around with photoshop etc
i may get good one day haha.
![[Image: DSC03468_zps1hzrjdi9.jpg]](http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w301/tucpal/DSC03468_zps1hzrjdi9.jpg)

![[Image: DSC03469_zpslljcy8ls.jpg]](http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w301/tucpal/DSC03469_zpslljcy8ls.jpg)
so after all that messing around i just went back to a shade of very light gray/white mix so i still could get the carbon fiber skin look and also make all the text work clearly and correctly
its the the first good one out the bag so far and this is what i have ended up with now.

the white background in the day mode theme does have a carbon fiber shade also
but the camera only seems to be picking the carbon up in the slightly darker border areas
anyway it can stay like that for a bit till i improve my photoshop skills haha.

Some good attempts there pal. Yes bang on what you said, you are limited to light colours for the day as the title bar source text is red and other text are black, so you need something that works on both. Night mode goes with any dark colours which makes it easier.
I have looked before on the russian forum to see if any one has managed to change font colours, shame no one has found a way, this is near enough the same for font style. No one seems to alter this.
Yup the only thing now holding you back is your imagination and photoshop skills, i'm the same stuck on the same thing lol.
Keep up the good work.

no that does not work you can not put 2 night files in day and night and just renumber them
the navi had a blanking totally dead effect but no problem just reflashed it again
with original files so i put your white theme back and my red theme with the insignia logos
well you have to try these things haha

What have you been trying out lol. How did you try to do it.
You can have dark theme for day but the text won't be easily seen so makes it useless, alternatively you can just keep it in night mode selecting it in the navi options, but the only problem is the nav map will be in night mode too.

I had a look and tried injecting it into the file when i first started modding the navi but failed miserably lol.
Should we move this navi chat on to this thread

Yep I will move the posts over some good info so far better in the correct posts anyway I deleted day mode and added another night mode but that just failed and blacked out the screen completely I guess most files are in day mode anyway it did work. Simply enough for deleting your carbon theme and simply copying my red theme in its place got to try these things out I guess I am happy with what I have now got what I wanted a better day theme and logos

Well just an update on the VXD badge i had on the rear boot that i got from ebay
and sadly it was starting to lose the color from the red D
the chrome was starting to fade and even started peeling in places so only after a few months on the car
i decided just to get rid off it and get some genuine GM badges back on the car
as i have grown tired of the debadged look so this was the best option for me
so originally it said insignia, ecoflex. it now says 2.0 CDTI TURBO.
As for the VXD badge not the best quality out there for sure.

[align=center]I have been of work this week and i got bored so i decided to do a few jobs that needed doing to the insignia
first i painted the calipers gloss black and added some vauxhall logo stickers
and i also plasti dipped the alloy wheel nut caps mat black and i went over them with some glossifier to make them shine.

I have also fitted a tail pipe to the rear end
and i am very happy with the way it turned out.
I also removed the fly eye wrap i did on the rear third brake light
and used tint spray this time now it looks like a much better job.

And i had the dreaded humming noise on and off for a while now on the 2.0 cdti engine
so it was time that was sorted out it is the turbo wastegate solenoid valve
so for the sake of £40 i just replaced it and the problem is now solved.

I have also done a new start up animation on the nav 600
it starts out with the insignia car and fades up to the insignia logo
then i have a new day theme that is gray
i have kept the red night theme
and use the insignia car as the standby logo.

And one last thing i did was to bin the elite front dampers
and change them over for the SRI front shock dampers
the elite ecoflex already has the SRI front and rear springs but it has softer dampers
so by changing the front dampers i have stiffened and improved the ride on the front end
the SRI dampers have got rid of the overly soft front suspension the elite has
it has improved the handling drive and feel of the car and it is much better for doing it
the elite was a bit of a handful to drive around the twistys before i did this
but now it handles so much better and is actually fun to drive as it holds the road very well now.
![[Image: DSC03591_zps2meuyont.jpg]](http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w301/tucpal/DSC03591_zps2meuyont.jpg)
so a very busy week but well worth the effort
the next jobs will be to get saving for side skirts and a rear lower spoiler
but that will have to wait till the start of august.

sheepy the tail pipe was no big issue for me as the pipe only has a very small bend in it
so i cut it off the end and used a straight tail pipe
i had a 2.75 to 2 inch reducer and a 2 inch to 2 inch join then pushed the tail pipe on over that
then i will get them spot welded to keep them on for good
it looks like this but it will stick out a bit more when i get it welded next friday and fixed correctly
just waiting for the ramp and welder to become free.

I decided the rear end of the Insignia was looking a little naked
since i debadged it so i have just got a VXD badge
and i also added a chrome strip to the rear diffuser under skirt trim
just to make it look a little different.
I also got a DA polisher clay bar kit and compound polish wax etc
so i gave the car a real good detail
the weather has not stopped raining since i did it so the results will have to wait Ha ha
but believe me the car is gleaming now and protected for the rest of the winter.
Vxd badge looks awesome mate think ill debadge mine and get one!

hello mate. i was wondering which connection did you tap into for the led around the gear gator in your insignia? and how did you disassemble the gear gator trim?
1:st-Aug-2016, 13:00:32
I used this type of led but i used a 50cm one you have to cut it in half lengthways
so you can tuck it into the gap under the metal trim
heres a link to a 30cm one but a 50cm one fits all the way around you can trim them down also.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/30cm-Flexible-...VE7_ZEx7Kw
This how to it is the same for the insignia
follow it from the removal of the headlight switch part
and take power and ground from there
![[Image: S30HeadlampSwitchwpin_zps6glcwboe.jpg]](http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w301/tucpal/S30HeadlampSwitchwpin_zps6glcwboe.jpg)
https://www.vxoc.org.uk/forum/Thread-how...GEAR-GATOR
you dont need to remove the metal gator trim just tuck the led into it too will need to trim the rubber part of the led to fit it in nice and snug
but you will have to take off the plastic trim on the side of the center console
and pull back the carpet to run the wires there from the headlight switch .

What tools you used to fit the spoilers and skirts?

no tools needed just tiger seal and tape to hold them on till they set
best to fit first then paint them just makes life easier

Tiny mod today but one i have wanted to do
on my old astra j i upgraded the EPB button to the one with the chrome trim
and as the insignia only comes with the standard black EPB button i just had to upgrade it
i just got one from an astra j and it fits perfectly fine as it is the same part
and unlike the astra j the insignia EPB was a 5min job to do.
also the car has a had full service and passed its MOT with no issues.

Today i have replaced the center speaker on the insignia
to start improving the sound quality i totaly forgot i still had one upstairs
from the ones i got for the astra j when i changed them
so it is goodbye to the standard cheap chinese paper 3.5 specker
and hello to the new blaupunkt coaxial GTx 352 sc 3.5 inch
it sounds better already and i will be changing the front and rear door speakers
also in a few months for 16.5 blaupunkt GT 662 coaxial speakers also to match.

Also i moved the DPF LED to a better location
as having it on the door tweeter was just annoying me.
