I think.... And I could be completely wrong here... it's something to do with electrostatically fusing fibers to a panel. They did it on wheeler dealers to some strange looking American car.

Interesting the plan will be to black the headliner and trim parts out at some point but not untill the summer at the earliest

Just a small update for now
i found a gloss black GPS sharkfin at last after years of looking for one
so it was rude not to get it and swap it over
the gloss black sharkfin seems to suite the black car
and i think it is much better looking.
Before with the old standard black plastic sharkfin.
And after with the new gloss black sharkfin.
I have a few other things going on at the minute
and getting done in the next few weeks
so i will let you all know what they are
when they are done Ha ha.

Operation interior blackout continues
i am in the process as you all know of getting all the black trim parts
that i need to get the black look headliner and A B and C pillars
so i have a few more of the black trim bits that have turned up

the front courtesy light console and the rear courtesy light console are now done in black trim
and the black hooks and the black covers for the black sun visors are now done also
i have the three black grab handles and the black sunglass case on order so hopefully they will be here this week
then i need to find the black plastic B and C pillars or i may just wrap or paint them not to sure yet
and then i can black the headliner and front A pillars out
this will take some time and it will be an ongoing project but i am getting there nice and slowly

I also got one more thing done this weekend
i got my hands on an insignia VXline gear stick
it is exactly the same as the astra J VXR gear stick but without the VXR badge on it
this will also fit the astra J but you need to remove the chrome surround trim from the leather
and reattach the one from the astra J as the surround trim parts are a different shape.
Here are a few pictures of the difference as a few of you have been asking
the insignia VXline and VXR and the astra J VXR gear sticks are much more chunkier and thicker
and it has a slightly different shape than the standard astra J / insignia 6 speed gear stick
it also has chrome parts on the gear knob
and if you get the VXR one you get the VXR logo also.

Your car looks really good, with some nice tasteful modifications
Is that right the insignia with standard fit 18" alloys is £30 a year road tax ? My Astra Sri 2.0cdti is only 6 months newer than yours and is on standard 18"' alloys and is £110/year as it tips it over into the next road tax band from 17" alloys

the 2.0CDTI with 17" alloys is £30 if 18 or 19" alloys fitted at factory it's £110. Bigger wheels = more rolling resistance = higher emissions.
My 2.0CDTI came out the factory with 17" and I've fitted 19" I even have a set of 18" in the loft.

Haha I know where joking but just letting others know the 18"'s aren't for sale.
I am going to go through everything in March (the wife has a week holiday) so the loft will be gutted and most things will be up for sale as I need the room back.
But always handy to have a bunch of parts.

Not the worlds biggest mod this weekend
but after someone kindly removed two of my valve caps earlier this week
most likely for there push bike it was time to order some new ones
i got these they're really good for the price no complaints at all
and they are better looking than the standard TPMS valve caps
there a small detail but they make it all add up for the overall look.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121864467391?_...EBIDX%3AIT
i have also just ordered something for the outside of the car
and hopefully it will be here and fitted by next weekend
but you will have to Wait and see what it is.

I have just fitted a front lower splitter today to my insignia
i think it looks very good and it really sets the front end off nicely
it is in black plastic and sure gloss black would look better
but at least i don't have to worry about stone chips if it was painted
i may get it wrapped at some point in the future
but i am happy with it as it is at the moment
and i just got it fitted before the heavens opened Haha.

I did some wrapping to the insignia front grill today
to see what the front grill would look like with wrapped black grill bars
and i also wrapped the backing plate for the griffin gloss black
i love the look but the center bar needs to be redone next weekend
as i have messed that one up and i have run out of time to play with the car till then
but it is better looking that's for sure and i like it .
