Hi all new to here bought my first Astra 3monthd ago it's an Astra j 1.6 cdti ecoflex 136ps. The problem I am having is an intermittent loud rattleing noise on startup. It sounds like it's coming from the throttle body/egr area. Sometimes rattle clears after a few seconds sometimes stays if you turn the car off and restart the rattle is gone seems like something is sticking if that makes sense. I have no eml lights on. Also got an intermittent slight rough idle as well not shore if the problems

I recently purchased a 2010 Astra J 1.4 Turbo.
 Despite the vehicle being purchased from a dealership owned by my cousin, I have had nothing but trouble since.
The latest of a long list is that I had the front discs and pads replaced last weekend (despite later finding out they didn’t need doing in the first place). Hi I have a 12plate astra j gtc 1.6t when engine is warm it sound like it is over heating or the fan is working overtime, I picked my friend up from for work this morning and he said that he could here my car from inside his house and it sounded like a fighter jet, could somebody please help me or have any ideas on what the problem may  

Hi Guys if anyone has a noise on cold start up that's sounds similar to a failing water pump but disappears after 10 seconds it could be the auxilary belt tensioner as I just replaced my belt and tensioner yesterday and what a difference. £70 fix so not too expensive just thought I would give everyone a wee heads up and the best way to confirm this is remove the auxilary belt and do a cold start and see if the noise has disappeared as well as feel for play in the pulleys as well.

ive got a clicking noise when i hit the throttle pedal and the turbo kicks in.the clicking noise is for a second or two.
some times i hear it some times not.it happens when i accelerate hard and it seems to be coming from the engine bay or underneath that area.cars fine otherwise.
anybody got any ideas what it could be.

Hey guys on my Astra gtc I am noticing that sometomes hen pull off sharply and when u turn the wheel left going in forward or reverse it can clunk also.

Now when I have had this in for service or MOT they have mentioned it to me but can never seem to tell me where it's coming from making me wonder if the usual aspects of front shock , top mounts etc are not the usual culprit here. Has anyone else had this issue?

Any ideas would be great thanks.

Hi all, 

Got a little problem with the GTC 2014 Sport CDTI 2.0L. Recently its been making this horrible grinding noise. The noise is really loud when I turn the car on in the morning, it eases away when the car is warmed up a bit but does not disappear. It seems to be coming from under the engine but I can't be sure.


A lot of information online has pointed to the DMF or clutch release bearing, not sure which applies to me.

The noise is made when;
- The car is turnt on, gear in neutra

Over the past couple of days I've noticed a horrible noise when turning my ignition off. It only lasts for a second our 2 but it's almost like a grinding noise.. sounds like it's coming from the drivers side of the engine bay but I could be wrong. Car is a 2.0 cdti.

I have a 2012 registered Opel Astra. 57k kilometers. It has received an interim service every calendar year. When i am stationery and just beginning to take off or when i am driving very slowly(really slowly) i get a strange noise coming from the passenger side(either towards front wheel or towards back wheel). It like a squeaking noise.

Noise doesnt seem to be present when going faster.

Engine noise when clutch 1/4 pressed & 1/4 released.
If car in neutral & clutch pressed 1/4 way down the noise is loudest,
Could it be DMF & if so what the cost approx of fitting?

Car running fine otherwise
