Decided to buy a k&n filter as it was on special for 35 euro delivered from euro spares. Arrived yesterday, fitted it last night as you do. Old filter was filthy and was probably the same one I fitted when I bought the car 3 years ago. 50k miles ago.

First impressions, the car is certainly more responsive. Don't know whether its all due to the k&n or just that the old filter was filthy. Certainly a lighter touch on the accelerator required. Actually feels like I have turned the pedal box to sport mode.

Expensive day tomorrow, car is in for service, cam belt, tensioner and water pump. Car is coming up 6 years and has 62k on the clock.
