I been looking at Air Filters there are so many to choose from and so many price difference. Not sure what is the difference between them.

I'm a bit confused, and the other thing is heat soak, you would definitely need to put a heat shield in to prevent this.
The cost is adding up if you intend on replacing the pipes with silicone hose or metal.

Might be cheaper and easier just stick this in and have the same result i assume
