vibrates lever gear

Gear lever vibrates
#1
Good morning,

I'm new on the forum and this is my first post.I got a astra J 1.7 cdti 125hp from 2011. When i'm driving and shift in to 4th gear (especially there) the gear lever starts to vibrate (sometimes hard). I asked a machanic and he said it's propably the gear box giving away because it's common that they brake down. I made this post to get a second opinion.

Is the car under warranty?

I'm sure I've seen a TSB about this.

Will need to look tho.

I've been through the TSB and there is nothing. I know I've seen something about it somewhere but I can't for the life of me find it.

Are you getting any grinding noises?

Is it definitely the gear lever? Does it stop when you put your hand on it?

it may well be the gear linkage remove the gear stick cover and check for excessive play in the two linkages
then open the bonnet and again check the two linkages on the gear box
but i would say in your case to get the car looked at it may not be as bad as you think

No it's definitely the gear box, i went on a dutch forum friday and read about it. Alot of people with similar problem and conclusion was the gearbox is up for revision. @tucpal
