Have the same problem. No amount of trim removal, sound deadening, or bolt tightening has helped....!
Extensive research has led me to this - even though the repair is for the 5 door... https://workshop-manuals.com/vauxhall/as...ing_noise/ It seems temperature related - heating the car interior almost stops it, and an outside temp of +14 degrees the same. I'll be giving it a go tomorrow...

This did not work...!
However I think I have solved the issue. The knocking is definitely temperature related, and having stripped the trim around the a pillar and headlining there is nothing visible that is loose or knocking. The noise goes away with some temperature in the car however during the day. My only conclusion was the seal around the windscreen by the a pillar is brittle in cold weather and the temperature differential was causing a creaking/knocking sound. As the car warms up it reduces in frequency and intensity. I got some WD40 Specialist Silicone spray lubricant from Amazon and sprayed it liberally around the windscreen seal by the a pillar, inside and out, after removing the a pillar trim. This morning at 6 degrees outside temperature, no knocking sound...! Same on the way home. TBH I was seriously considering getting rid if this wasn't sorted, it was so annoying! Hope this helps anyway. Steve |
