Sorting out the gearbox

"Just as important to the Astra is a new six-speed manual gearbox. In 2013, when GM announced the new 1.6-litre diesel engine, the company admitted that its real weak point was manual gearboxes, partly because the basic design principle dated from the 1970s. The new transmission is said to weigh just 37kg and puts an emphasis on smooth shifts and a short lever action"

Smaller? In a time when all new models are bigger than their predecessors this surprises me

Official info and photos etc. on the VX site now too:

http://www.vauxhall.co.uk/vehicles/futur...index.html

I do kinda like it...sort of looks like a 1 series from the rear and a Volvo V40 from the front and sides I think. Do really like it myself! Well I like the one on the VX site but that's probably the 20K elite lol.

Liking the "new" tech they have it now, such as:

Android Auto and Apple Car Play
Concierge
Wi-Fi Hotspot (Turns your car into a moving hotspot)

Also heated seats and steering wheel as standard on the mid range model now too! (One i have lol)

As much as I like it I won't be buying one either. When my finance is up on this one I have I will either buy a VXR or a German car

I agree, if my J is still going strong in 4-5 years I'll keep her. If in need of another car I'd definitely check the new Astra out.
