Sorting out the gearbox

"Just as important to the Astra is a new six-speed manual gearbox. In 2013, when GM announced the new 1.6-litre diesel engine, the company admitted that its real weak point was manual gearboxes, partly because the basic design principle dated from the 1970s. The new transmission is said to weigh just 37kg and puts an emphasis on smooth shifts and a short lever action"

RE: New Astra - Rusty2009 - 20:th-Jun-2015

So far I only like the front bumper and bonnet, can't wait to go look at one and test drive it lol.

Smaller? In a time when all new models are bigger than their predecessors this surprises me

Official info and photos etc. on the VX site now too:

http://www.vauxhall.co.uk/vehicles/future-models-and-concepts/astra-2015/index.html

I do kinda like it...sort of looks like a 1 series from the rear and a Volvo V40 from the front and sides I think. Do really like it myself! Well I like the one on the VX site but that's probably the 20K elite lol.

Liking the "new" tech they have it now, such as:

Android Auto and Apple Car Play
Concierge
Wi-Fi Hotspot (Turns your car into a moving hotspot)

Also heated seats and steering wheel as standard on the mid range model now too! (One i have lol)

RE: New Astra - tucpal - 23:rd-Jun-2015

It must be the first time the Astra is sticking to the basic shape and improving the over all car I wil most likely get one but waiting to see one with a body kit or vxline model

New Astra - Tonto - 23:rd-Jun-2015

I do like them, definitely going for top spec next Astra I get! Still loving my 2.0 cdti too. Be about 4 years before I can afford a 'new' Astra (be second hand of course by then) lmao!

I'll be sticking with J I think I have no plans to sell it.

RE: New Astra - sheppy1 - 24:th-Jun-2015

As much as I like it I won't be buying one either. When my finance is up on this one I have I will either buy a VXR or a German car

I agree, if my J is still going strong in 4-5 years I'll keep her. If in need of another car I'd definitely check the new Astra out.

I've got mine for the next 4.5/5 yrs. I like the tech that the new one is offering though.
