Dave's Astra GTC 1.4 turbo 120

Hi all, thought I'd start a little thread as I've just bought myself a 2012 Astra GTC 1.4 turbo (120).

My plans for the car are to get it up to around 180bhp, does this sound achievable? There must be other owners on here with the 1.4 turbo engine that have reached this sort of figure. What's the best route to take? Any info at all on this subject is appreciated as the GTC is still new to me.

My car has the 19 inch 5 spoke alloys, which I'm looking at getting refurbished in a dark colour, and I'm looking into lowering the car as it looks like it's on stilts at the moment. Can anyone recommend on tried and tested springs on the GTC? Most of the ones I've seen lower by 30mm. Does that make a good difference?

Beyond that I'm not too sure. I've noticed airtec do a nice front mount intercooler, anyone tried one?

Any help, advice etc welcome and appreciated. Pics to follow.

Made a couple of changes to the gtc over the last couple of weeks. New number plates to freshen it up, new wipers and bought a full set of genuine mud flaps which are now fitted.

I'll try and get some pics up soon.

And the car is going in for a remap and dyno session next Saturday, hoping to see around 170bhp

Just bought 1.4 t sri 140 auto collect it on Saturday and have already made enquiries into remapping and 170 bhp seems like the figure for either the 120 or 140 models would be really interested in what your thoughts are especially in the mid range once remap is done

If you go on the vxoc astra j facebook group and post there are quite a few 1.4t owners who have mapped their cars and will be able to advise you on gains etc.

The place I'm taking my car to get mapped, Campbell's in maske by the sea near Redcar, told me they've mapped a few of these engines and they map to around 170bhp. That's regardless of wether it's a 120 or 140. Also noted that I should see a torque increase of around 70nm on my 120. Should be a noticeable increase and give the car more useable power. I'm not sure what effect it have on the mpg though.
