Astra J GTC tailgate lock failed - grahamf505 - 9:th-Feb-2021 Hi All The tailgate latch on my Astra J 1.7 CDTI estate has packed up and doesn't respond to me unlocking the car either with the remote key or using the switch on the facia panel. Thanks to a post on this forum, I was able to unlock the tailgate from inside the car which got me out of trouble. I checked the fuse (assuming I checked the correct one) and it seems fine. In any case I can see 12v on a couple of the pins in the connector that plugs into the lock mechanism. I took a punt and bought a secondhand lock mechanism on eBay (looks good condition), but after connecting it up, the lock is still not operating :-/ I'm now wondering whether the body control module might have gone faulty, but I'm not sure how I can check this out. All other aspects of the central locking work OK, so I was guessing it wasn't at fault, but perhaps it is. If anyone knows what voltages I should be seeing across the three pins of the connector plug with the lock activated and deactivated, it might be a good next step to check these. You may find if get it connected it may have a error code stored which will help point in the right direction for a starting point rather guessing at things. |
