Posted by: Markt8 - 18:th-Sep-2014, 08:40:08 - Forum: Astra-J/GTC - Replies (4)

This ex police astra J is doing my head in, I bought a reset radio off ebay which wouldn't communicate with MDI in the car for some reason so had to send it back, now I started looking at connect2 again and realised I need steering controls for it which I don't have, so yet again im stuck with it and the car is driving me mad, stupid Vauxhall want £500 for a brand new radio fitted, I found someone on here selling one but there 200mile away and still quoting me near 300 for it, anyone any ideas?

  Dbilas Intercooler Kit.

Right have decided to go for this Intercooler Kit from Regal Autosport. Going to be phoning them tomorrow to see how much it will cost for them to fit, but how hard is it going to be to do myself with a couple of mates who are mechanics and just get it shipped out to me?

  How to stop Smelly air-con
Posted by: grahamfromoldham - 17:th-Sep-2014, 12:43:56 - Forum: Interior How-to's - Replies (18)

I can't take the praise for this one as such, although mine is slightly different to the how to guide available elsewhere on the Internet.

Here goes: For a few months I have had a bad smell from the air con after it has been turned off, especially the day after. I understand this to be a build up of bacteria within the system, but I hadn't realised how cheap and easy it is to resolve.

Firstly, buy a can of this which cost me £3 from Asda. I understand it has been spotted in pound shops so it may be worth checking around. Sadly in Winsford, there aren't any.

1, Turn your engine on and start the air-con on full power at the maximum fan speed. Open all 4 dashboard vents and ensure air con is set to come through them i.e. not pointing at windscreen or feet.

2, Open all 4 windows.

3, On the outside of the car near the windscreen wipers is the air intake vent. You now need to spray approx two thirds of the can into the mesh, spraying evenly across the length of the whole vent.

4, Keep air con running for a good five minutes after you have stopped spraying.

5, Turn engine off, remove glovebox and remove pollen filter.

6, Again, engine back on with air con on full power spray the rest of the can into the pollen filter housing.

7, refit pollen filter and glovebox. Job done.

Please note this spray may be harmful to health and so its vital you leave windows open to allow car to vent.

  Retrofit battery cover
Posted by: Rusty2009 - 14:th-Sep-2014, 19:57:16 - Forum: Retrofit How-to's - Replies (35)

Some cars have the negative battery cover some don't.

I ordered this from Autovaux at a total cost £7.49 + postage and was surprised it arrived today (Sunday).

Part number 13320713

Real simple to fit just clips over the battery

Be aware sellers on eBay want well over the odds for this (£35).
