  New Owner - Few Questions
Posted by: pr0xibus - 25:th-Feb-2023, 08:54:29 - Forum: Astra-J/GTC - Replies (5)

Morning Folks,

Purchased a 12 - Astra J - 2.0CDTi (Elite) a few months back.  Not really had much time for questions, Xmas, COVID, etc etc.

Anyway

1.  I have the Service Vehicle Soon message, which I believe is a Non Emissions error.  I don't mind taking it to the local Garage, but was wondering if people can suggest a relatively cheap ODBC Reader (Ideally phone connection) so I can read these sort of messages?  Couldn't afford Tech2, and as much as I would like to avoid buying a laptop for Opcom.

2.  My Brakes are needing to be replaced, after some spirited driving along country roads, they struggled to stop the car, Is there a preferred Brake Disc / Pad combination, that is better than OEM?  Don't need bigger Discs etc, Just something that can handle me on windy roads.

3.  Car seem to be fairly rusty underneath, recently replaced the Washer Pump and at the same time noticed a large circle mount looking thing, that had snapped off.  I was trying to find pictures from underneath the car to point it out, but struggled to find anything.  (This question doesn't need to be answered as its pretty vague)  Position of this thing was Front Passenger, to the right hand side of the Washer pump Underneath, looks like it would have been connected to either the front bumper, radiator sort of area.

4.  The service History for the J does anyone happen to know if VX keep a record of these online, Needing a replacement Service Book and was kinda hoping they would (I'll find out later today anyway when I phone them, but just on the off chance someone knew).

5.  Audio related question.  I have the CD400, so phone can connect for Voice only, I noticed some Astras have a nice screen / Satnav, do All radios only have Voice for BT or can Music be played too.  Don't mind buying aftermarket, I did see a nice Tesla looking one, but ideally I would like it to be relatively standard looking.

6.  When I purchased the car there was mention of an options (Lighting Pack), could not for the life of me remember the name, but the pack above had black Front lights etc, can anyone tell me the name of the Lighting Packs that would have been options when purchasing new?

  Hi from France

Hi everyone !

I'm Valentin, 34yo, product designer in the south of France and owner of a red GTC (2012) and a red Calibra (1991 redtop), yeah I love red

I'm here because I bought a complete set to upgrade my Navi900 to the Infinity sound system. As I searched for informations about that, I found out some good ones on this forum. But some are still missing for me. And one big pain point is the fact that the Infinity wire harness is integrated to the complete interior wire harness. The goal is now to isolate the wires I need from those I don't need and pray for the return "amplified" wires to go on a plug behind the unit and not directly to the speakers...

Anyway, I'll try to post that work here to help people in the same case.

Have a nice day !

Posted by: Morpheus75 - 29:th-Dec-2022, 13:16:18 - Forum: Request for information - Replies (2)

Hi guys,
does anyone know if there are updates for the Navi 600/900 maps for the year 2022/2023?
I'm afraid it's an obsolete product now....
Any opinion?
Thanks in advance.

Threaded Mode Diesel Fuel guage erratic low fuel and then half tank
Posted by: caretaker - 16:th-Dec-2022, 20:25:41 - Forum: Astra-J/GTC - Replies (1)

Hi Guys
My Vauxhall Astra J 1.7cdti, Hatchback, 5 Door, 2011 61Reg.

My Diesel Fuel Gauge is was showing few days a Low in fuel and then after a bit showing half tank and then again low fuel.

However on the same day in the evening i just filled in £20 worth of fuel just to be on the safe side, but since then i have driven 1.5 miles, but not noticed the error of the low fuel.

What could it be is it the Pump, Float Valve or the Sender Unit ?

Do you have to take the seat out to access the pump or sender unit or the fuel tank underneath the car.

Thanks.

I had posted this on the wrong section , so i posting it again here.

Ever get fed up with faceless call centres?
Posted by: ChrisKnottIns - 9:th-Nov-2022, 14:33:07 - Forum: Chris Knott Insurance - No Replies

When it comes to buying or renewing your Car Insurance, I certainly know that it can get frustrating to be left on hold for ages and then be put through to someone in a vast call centre.

But at Chris Knott Insurance, we don’t do that. If you ring us up for a quote, or need to have a question asked, you’ll be put through to our personal and experienced team in Hastings. We’ll be able to offer you sound and impartial advice to help you find the best insurance for your vehicle.

And don’t forget that as a member of an Owners Club, we can secure you even better deals!

If you’d like to find out for yourself, you can call us up on 0800 917 2274.

All the best,

Simon

Need convincing? Our reviews speak for themselves…

“I've been using Chris Knott brokers for the last few years now and can honestly say it's great to still have a service where you can pick up the phone and speak to them regarding any matter and receive a quick no wait response. The cost of insuring my vehicles through them compared to online search companies has been roughly the same, but the level of service is unbeatable in my opinion. They keep you regularly up to date with new services or changes in the law of car insurance and everything is clear and precise and I'm more than happy to suggest this company to my family and friends. I've been insured with many companies in the past as I am now in my mid 40s but truly they are far better than cheaper internet search companies.”

“I phoned up on Saturday morning to accept my renewal invite and I also added my partner to my policy. Emma who dealt with my enquiry was really nice to deal with and very efficient taking my payment and emailing my documents on to me!”

“Fantastic bunch of folk who know what they're about. Jessica handled my insurance and was super. Most impressive thing was that they answered the phones in a reasonable time, rather than sitting for ages hearing those dreadful recordings from other companies about ‘high call volumes’ - meaning they just don't employ enough staff… Proper ‘Old School’ company in the best sense of the phrase.”

  Hello all from Whippet
Posted by: Whippet - 22:nd-Oct-2022, 19:53:54 - Forum: Introduction Area - No Replies

Hi. Been browsing for years but not posted anything yet, so thought it was time for an introduction.
Been an Astra owner since 1988 starting off with a mk 1 GTE as my first true love. Had several since including a Nova GTE, Astra G SRI and my latest is a J GTC 1.4 sport which I have had for 6 years. Just wanted to say am I bonkers sticking to Vauxhall or is it just that my toolkit is too Vauxhall orientated to change. Although given the future of all cars I really don't know what to go for next when the time comes. Starting to get a bit dispondant now as cars are getting too complicated to work on without a degree in computer science tech know how. I try to keep up but as soon as I get to grips with new technology it changes again, I'm sure just to annoy me ?.
Done a few mods in my time including the latest GTC.
Anyway that's enough from me. Just wanted to say Hi.
