Looks good mate, I was thinking around the air vents and centre trim like the last picture, but another idea was around the armrest maybe? I like the fact I can adjust the brightness along with the rest of the ambient lighting.
I'm a complete novice with electrics so I like simple jobs, another idea I'd like to try is to retrofit some LED indicators in the mirror covers, I was thinking of buying another set of covers, cutting some slots in them and fix some type of flat LED strip from the inside, then vinyl wrap them after. I think it would be simple enough to wire them straight from the wing.

I never tried around the armrest.
Still I have time to play around I have.
Yes it’s nice it dims with the ambient lighting.
I did have some but the LED failed on one side.
I wouldn’t mind finding a company that could do moulding then I could get a clear cover made and fit an orange LED strip.

Yeah I can see that working. I’m surprised that nobody has manufactured any after market ones with indicators, especially in China I’m sure they’d sell.

I'd assume mass market appeal: most people will happily buy plug and play aftermarket, but the need to re-wire, splicing etc changes that.

That is a nice look.
If you are still looking to do more, I highly recommend the led spotlight pointing into the door pocket. There is a really nice spot in the door card, just at the bottom of the handle, angled perfectly for an LED Spot. Colour match the other light and it highlights your children leaving sh...t... in the door pockets when it is dark.
Love them really.

The one behind the handle now kind of shines in the door pocket perhaps could be brighter. I wouldn’t mind doing the same in the rear quarter panels but I don’t know where to pick the feed up from?

They did do aftermarket ones, I found them on aliexpress (ordered a set but the order was cancelled by seller) http://nazya.com/freeshipping/product/ob...53673.html.
For the rears I would splice into the gear stick light.

Where does the rear door wiring normally run? I would have thought down past the doors - I had planned to pick up the rear doors ambient from the front doors supply either side.

On a 5 door it runs along under the kick panel each side and then a bit up the B pillar.
You could tap off the front door lighting but the gear stick would be the easiest place.

With my extra LED I ordered I’ve decided to fit it under the lid of my armrest. I dismantled it last night and fitted it into the gap between the leather and the plastic underside and it’s a good tight fit all that’s left to do now is to wire it directly to the 12v socket at the rear of the armrest then I’ll post some pictures later

I’ve just finished wiring it up with no issues
Drilled a small hole in the plastic for the connector to pass through
Then once it was connected all you can see is a small piece of cable running past the hinges to the rear 12volt socket.
Just need to see how it looks in the dark

You can just cut it where you want. It's actually not led technology. Very simply explained it is a copper wire with a fosforic coating that lights up when you pas a current through it.
Looking very clean Sparky!

Anyway I gave it test drive and on it’s highest setting it’s a massive difference along with the throttle box it’s absolutely mad!!! I don’t know if I’ll keep it on max but I will for now because it’s fun

Nice one. I have a Racechip One which I no longer use. (Long story, limp mode related) I see that the newer RS version of the RaceChip is adjustable without opening the unit. Is there an "off" mode or are all of those settings for different states of tune ?
9:th-Feb-2018, 14:38:56
Mine is a mis match of old and new and you have to open mine up to adjust again long story The rs I think you are able to to turn off without opening

OK cool, I ran the Racechip for probably 2 x 10k miles stints. The first time I didnt have any problems until I turned it up to power level 2 which eventually caused the dpf sensor to throw a few errors. Limp mode.
The second stint I ran it on standard and still ended up with some errors in the end which caused it to switch to limp mode.
I tried it again the other day but the engine components started making some weird noises again so I pulled it out.

I’ve got mine off at the moment because I’ve got a faulty glow plug throwing up an error and when they read the fault it was also saying there was an over boost issue ☹️ It’s going in on Monday to get sorted then I’m going set it back to the factory setting and start again. If I get any more errors I’ll ring Race chip and see what they say

27:th-Feb-2018, 22:16:23
Yeah you have to remove the trims, once off I laid them on top of the vinyl and drew a template because there’s a bigger curve than there looks and I didn’t want to waste it. The wrapping itself is fairly easy I used a hairdryer to get it nice and warm

I wanted to keep my thread updated so even though I posted these pictures on another thread I wanted them on my progress thread
I changed the LED’s on the display from red to white but only 3 out of 4 are working so I’m fixing the 4th this week but this is how it looks
I’ve also changed the rear twin USB port for a red one
I’ve ordered some green LED’s to change the unlock from red to green and maybe the same for the phone answer button on the steering wheel.

The phone answer button on the steering wheel:
It's a bugger. The plastic for the answer/hang up is a single channel, so the light between them mixes.
My personal thought on this one is to hacksaw a clear biro pen & use black silicon sealent I happen to have laying around to position them inside it & isolate the light without interfering with the operation of it.
Nice looking usb ports btw
Good looking all round.

No, I went quiet for the Christmas period, then one of the works offices was being shutdown so was travelling a lot and spending my remaining time with the kids.
Starting to get back at looking at my next steps though. Still have the LED flood lights for the rear to do, puddle lamps to be powered front & rear, and to figure out how the hell I'm doing the tailgate puddle lights.
I'm also still figuring out what to do with the dogs space in the rear. Recently fitted it with foam dog bedding which he seems to prefer, but I'm not liking how smelly & dirty they get. The rubber was easier to keep clean.
I have decided to fight flight switches into the from courtesy light space for controlling the extra rear LED's though.
Just bought myself some roof bars today as well, getting ready for some significant ikea shopping!
