VXOC Astra-J/GTC

On the odd occasion before I start the car a green Auto Wiper Light comes on in the speedo towards the top.

Car is a 1.6 vvt Exclusiv.

Any ideas?

I don't believe the car has auto wipers, being the base model I assumed it did not.

Unfortunately it only appears for a split second on the dash.

Does it lighting up mean there is a problem with auto wipers?

do you have the auto wipers in reverse option
i have never seen that light up it could be a fault as you say

How do you check this?

It's on every set of clock even if you don't have lights and wipers it can light up when the car does checks.

I been wondering why does it check the auto wipers and light up on times when they are not fitted?

Just curious or is there a potential problem?

Don't quote me on this but I would have thought that you would have to have auto lights in order to have auto wipers, or should I say that they come together as part of the sight and light pack, so if you haven't got auto lights then you won't have auto wipers... crawls back in bunker to escape the shrapnel lol.

Quite right come as a pack.

One IPC fits many models with different options fitted.

So, back to my original question,  if either auto lights or wipers are NOT fitted why does it do the checks,  or is there a potential problem?

have you noticed whether or not the rear wiper moves while the light is on. If the light turns off after a few seconds I wouldn't worry about it as it will likely be the circuit being checked by the control unit

Every car runs through a check at start-up hence the needle sweep and every light on the dash lighting it, It's normal and nothing to worry about.
