I can get to Rusty easy, make regular trips to Bournemouth, based near Bracknell myself
Cool sure he will work it out won't be to hard for him
I'll need to track down the pins used on the radio plug, I know the plug and pins for the DAB.

It may pay (be cheaper) to find a loom from a scrapper to get the radio plug with pins in.
I best get checking mine then... [SPEAK-NO-EVIL MONKEY]

@rusty2009 did you get chance to look at whether a dab module from the astra H would work on the J?

There aren't any J or insignia modules on ebay at the moment.

Sorry mate yeah from I work out no it won't.

That's a shame! I best keep my eyes peeled. Fortunately I can't do anything until payday anyway. You still good to hang on until the 26th for the ariael?

Sent from my LG G4 using Tapatalk
Yes mate as agreed
Ok i dont know if this will help any body but i have just spoken to evans halshaw in chilwell nottingham about having them fit my14 with dab as i have seen it on the vauxhall website for £195. Now speaking to the girl she has told me that they a running a reunion offer at the mo which means you could get it for £99 fully fitted. She explaind i would have to go and just get it checked to see if it could be fitted but it would take no more that 10 mins, so ive booked for friday next week.

That won't be factory fitted DAB it will be an aftermarket DAB kit. I believe the make is pure highway it's the same as the Alpine DAB kit I have.
As above aftermarket don't bother no were near as good
I must admit that I find the Alpine DAB very good and not had any problems with it at all, I would say looking the Pure highway just has different branding on it as it looks the same, I wouldn't use the glass aerial that it comes with tho.
So in theory, if I looked at the auto dab for example, would I be able to use the roof ariael?

There are no suitable dab modules on ebay at the moment 😕

Sent from my LG G4 using Tapatalk
The auto dab IIRC is made by connects2 although they are a very good company and most of their products are fine their DAB modules aren't the best I had one before the Alpine and it would lock it's self up on the local radio station, they did replace the item but the problem still remained.

They said it was down to radio station and that they couldn't receive the station where they where based. In the end the shop I got it from let me return it and pay the difference and I have no problems with my local station now.

TBH I would hold out for a Factory DAB unit.
there is one from an insignia but part numbers are difrent from the astra j gtc

Should work. Note I needed to request a VCI for Lewis's car.

Will that work do you think @rusty2009?

Yep it should work mate
Well I've gone for it so fingers crossed. I just need the mounting bracket now.

Sent from my LG G4 using Tapatalk
That one has the bracket so hopefully that will fit but you will need a bolt
Fingers crossed then. Thanks for finding this @tucpal

My module has arrived. Something about it has me confused. What is this part that's piggybacking it?

USB module mate
Oh. Brucey bonus. Is it any good to me?

Sent from my LG G4 using Tapatalk
You will need the USB port and the loom mate, I'll PM you in abit.
No worries. Cheers mate

you will also need to find what connection the gold connector is as it is different from what you need

sorry to tell you this but the connector is broke i have just had a good look
the gold bit is the inside of the connector the outer plastic shell is missing
do you agree rusty ??

send it back it is broke mate sorry

send it back it is broke mate sorry
It just looks like the fraka casing is missing the inside still looks to be there.

I have been told the fraka connection is just an SMA/SMB inside so should be able to get around it.
Just seen your posts guys. I test fitted the ariael cable on it earlier and it seemed to fit ok... I'm not 100% on what's potentially wrong with it to know.

Sent from my LG G4 using Tapatalk
Does it stay on ok if so no problems it is missing the plastic outer casing
It seemed to but I didn't put it on thinking there was a problem so I didn't look for anything untoward. I'll have to have a look when I finish work and get home later.

Can you buy the surround bit you think is missing?

Sent from my LG G4 using Tapatalk
Rusty may know that
You can

you should be able to dissemble that.
I've just woke up and retested the cable and module. It seems tight enough so I'll see what happens. I've emailed he seller to see if the part is still attached to the car so we'll see what happens.

Hi Guys,

I get a day off from work tomorrow so will be running my cabling for the DAB ariael. The one i purchased off Rusty has a live cable to obviously give it power. Rusty advised to wire it to the permanent live in the rear light cluster.

As i've not yet taken the car apart (due to currently sitting in the office), which wire should i be connecting it to?

Also, which route is best to follow for bringing the cable from the back to the front for the module? I dont particularly want to be getting in the way of the curtain airbags for obvious reasons.

TIA!
When we fitted Lewis's we ran down the c pillar and under the trim panel, we also took the live off the rear of the 12v socket as I knew that was an ignation live.
I cant picture what you mean.

Did you end up running it along the floor?

**Edit** Which wire is the ignition live in the 12v socket? And did you run it to the front socket or the socket in the armrest for the rear passengers?
When you open the door the kick panel that runs from front to rear.

We took it off the front iirc it was purple (there is only 2 and one is ground black),

Ahh, i get you now. So route it down the C pillar and run it along the sill edge direct to the module?.

I'm assuming the power will go to the front 12v socket then?

I take it thats where you ran it when it was in yours?
Yes mate.

But on mine I had to run a power cable to the boot anyway for the TV box (being aftermarket) so was able to tap onto that.
@rusty2009 & @tucpal I've got the power cable from the ariael as far as the bonnet catch but I think I'm running short of cable.

Are any of these cables in the bunch near the bonnet catch an ignition live that I can tap into?

I'm not sure TBH mate, could you not add a some extra wire on?
i could but its another join i was hoping to avoid tbh
Guys..... I need help!

I took a trip to ***** yesterday to have my DAB programmed to which it was successful however DAB wont show in the radio display because there is a error code stored in the car indicating that there is no power going to the aerial. I've checked my cabling and all seems ok, so i'm literally as a loose end as to what to do next.

***** said sort the power issue and the DAB will appear. The aerial is wired into the front power socket via the purple cable.
if this is with rusty,s aerial sure he will be along to help
Does the 12v socket work?

Just thinking you might of blown the fuse when hooking up the aerial.

Although I had issues with Lewis's I really can't it being the Aerial as the DAB module wouldn't be picking that up anyway, I would say it's more the DAB module.

Have a look at this

Yeah I plugged my car charger in and it started charging my phone so it's ok on that front.... I think.

I plugged the original aerial in but the error code didn't clear. What issues did you have with Lewis's?

According to ***** it needs to pick up power from the aerial amplifier to work.

Sent from my LG G4 using Tapatalk
No it doesn't as Lewis's has used an aftermarket aerial and we had no problems.

Have a look at the link I posted I my post above.
Could the cable be took long? Although that said you wired into the cigarette lighter aswell didn't you?
