custom steering wheels
just contacted a company called control custom steering wheels via facebook, i had seen they had modified a standard steering wheel, to look like a vxr steering wheel, when i get my car i will definatly be going with this company.
they quoted me 145 quid to convert a standard steering wheel to a biturbo lookalike, i think thats very cheap when you consider a real one is like nearly 400 quid.
anyway just thoought id tell you lot

Tyre choices 18" wheels
Currently looking to replace two rear tyres
Size currently on car, 235 / 45 / 18 94W Bridgestone RE050A
I am undecided if I want to replace the existing tyres with Bridgestones, mainly down to the eye watering cost
Anyone else tried different sizes on 18"s or anyone have any suggestions for alternative brands in the existing size, as I could be tempted to change all 4 tyres
I drive pretty, hard cornering wise, so would be looking for a grippy tyre, rather than an ECO type tyre

do biturbo steering wheels affect insurance, in the past i had a retrimmed steering wheel that when i contacted the insurance they were fine about but they said it had to be of standard shape, im not sure whether to get a biturbo of get a normal steering wheel redone a bit thicker but with nicer leather, 135 quid fore retrim,, 300 plus steering wheel
Noise from front wheels/brakes
Hi guys, car was services by vx a few weeks back. Brakes advised fine.
But approx 3-4mths ago when under heavy braking they make a loud groaning noise and seems to be when hot.
Was wondering if I need to replace the copper grease on the pads?
Will this cause this type of noise or is the grease to stop just squeezing?
Felt the discs and they are not marked at all

Non GTC 20 inch wheels
Hi all,
I'm trying to find some information on fitting a set of 20 inchers to my Astra J Sports Tourer. Do any of you know if this is possible? Will I have to modify the vehicle in any way to achieve this?
This website reckons these will fit fine:
https://www.performancealloys.com/wheel-...px?ID=4442
I test drove an Insignia ST (before buying the Astra ST) and it had 20inch rims on it that really tied the car together. I've had a look around at some photos of 19" on some 5 doors
Astra J alloy wheels
Alloy wheels PCD of 5x105 17 inch, all in fair condition no buckles or cracks. Few surface scuffs. No longer needed hence sale. £150 Ono collection Northampton or will meet if needed
thanks for looking

Biggest wheels ??
Hi all. What are the biggest wheels you can fit to the Astra j 2.0cdti SRI,bear in mind the Astra sri is lower than other models. I have the 225/50/17" atm. I'm currently looking at 235/40/19" do you think they would start to rub with luggage in the boot? These are the ones I'm looking at .
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/172216806345 they said they would come with 235/40/19 tyres thanks.

Dry, almost grinding type noise from front wheels / discs area
I have noticed a strange noise on my astra j. The noise sounds like when a brake disc lip may be slightly rubbing / touching the caliper. However, it is not this making the noise. The noise happens all the time. It doesnt change if i brake, turn left or right and it doesnt change with clutch or gear changes. If i push the car when it is off i can still hear it. Possibly from drive shaft area?? Has anyone else had this?
