Putting the J back on the road
After about 11 months I have decided to put my J back on the road. During the time it's been stood its been on the drive but only started on average maybe once a month.
The handbrake has been off the whole of this time but the car has only infrequently been started and moved a little.
The brake discs and pads had maybe done 1k miles only before I took the car off the road but now look very rusty.

My question is this - is it possible that the brakes will still be operational and indeed pass

Icebox users.. what does the display look like behind the trim panel?
I have a meriva B that i'd like to upgrade the radio on, would really like to fit one of those icebox android units i've read about on here... S160 i think they are,

However they don't do one for the meriva B, so i was thinking... does the display look anything like the origional colour display from the navxxx head units fitted to the higher spec cars??

it's a 7 inch display i believe, and looks like this : [Image: https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/62sAAOSwj...-l1600.jpg]

CD400, usb stick.. setting out the folders/files
Decided to get a usb stick to put a few mp3's on as the sound via my cheap blutooth adaptor (playing songs on the phone) is very low.

Glad to find i get proper volume playing songs off the usb stick.. but i'm being a bit thick here... how to hell do i set up the various atributes so it displays nicely on the (GID) display?

i mean, there's 'name' which is the file name with .mp3 at the end, then things like 'album' 'album artist', 'album ID', 'featured artist', 'genre'  and so on, i tried

Mind the GAP
I just wanted to highlight a product in the Chris Knott range that will benefit some members when buying a new or nearly new car.

Chris Knott GAP Cover is important if you'd like to replace your car with another one at the original value following a total loss claim. Highly competitive, this protection is likely to be vastly cheaper than your car dealer's equivalent offering.

What is Chris Knott GAP cover?
You may have heard of Finance GAP or Return To Invoice (RTI) GAP but Chris K

What's the best dongle for a V5754 android head unit?
Got my V5754 coming tomorrow and want to have internet available in the car to fully use it's capabilities. I don't really want to use my phone as a hotspot and would prefer to have a dedicated internet connection that would always be available in the car when needed, so I guess I'm looking at a wifi dongle/mifi unit etc.

Any advice on what works best?

Cheers

Hello from the SW
Hi,

Obviously this will be an introduction (I know who'd have thought it, an introduction in the introduction forum, whatever next...)

I was looking for info on an aftermarket Android Auto HU for my 2012 Astra GTC SRI and stumbled across this forum and thought it looked like a good place to spend some time

I freely acknowledge I know very little about cars and am not particularly DIY minded (unless it's to do with computers then it's another matter) so I'm looking forward to reading

why some astra j cars are more noisy than the others
Did you know that some astras are more noisy(inside the cabinet).Because opel/wauxhall cancelled some rubber parts to save money in some models.

The guy on the following video says: I have 2013 model astra j (black colour)and it has a special rubber sealing to prevent outside noise. My friend's car is 2015 model(silver one) and it has no same  rubber sealing. Therefore my car is more silent than my friend's car.

I have also 2015 model astra j and  I have also noise problem(If the driver door
