Astra J 1.6 Petrol 2012 Help
Hi all, I have an Astra J 1.6 petrol, 27,000 miles, great car, had it 1 month now, after driving the car when it is switched off it makes a ticking noise, (it starts off really fast and gradually get slow) it lasts around 5 mins, its coming from underneath the car, i think its the exhaust/catalytic converter cooling? Is this normal?? I have searched online and a few people say that its quite normal. Its just annoying more than anything else, did call the dealer but they wanted £75 just to listen

ASTRA J 1.4 PETROL ( NON TURBO )
Hi all I have a 2010 Astra j 1.4 petrol ( non turbo ) which has just started playing up. Whilst driving warning lights come on the dash as can be seen in the first image, the speedo and the odometer stop working. This will then clear then start again. Then sometimes the power steering stops working and the lights on the dash are as in image 2. This can then clear and the cycle repeats itself. This is happening more frequently but does not happen all the time :s. Through googling this the only th

1.6 Petrol loud ticking on cold
Hi all,

Bought a new (for me) 2014 GTC in Feb and love it!

However, I've noticed that on cold the engine ticks for around 15-30 seconds on cold, then dies down but can still be faintly heard. When cold it's so loud I can hear it from inside the cabin with all the windows shut.

I've got a 2-year warranty so have taken it back and Vauxhall told me that it's normal for the model? I've spoken to an independent mechanic and he's convinced it's tappits even though I've been told they're hydra

oil leak 1.6 petrol
Hi, I've got a couple of Astra J's, both 1.6 petrol
one has started a to leak a little oil - it doesn't seem to drip on the floor but the sump is wet - the drips fall onto the exhaust while driving (I love the smell of burning oil in the morning)

I've taken off the manifold heat shield and the front of block is also damp, so its not the sump gasket or the head gasket.
Is it likely to be the oil pressure switch?
Is this a known fault?

Petrol sounds like a Diesel
Hi all,
I’ve not long had my 60 plate Astra 1.6 SRI, so still getting used to what’s ‘normal’.
The latest thing I’ve noticed is when pulling away at low revs and generally the noise from the engine with the bonnet open for example, is that it sounds like a diesel!
Coming from a silky smooth Civic 1.8 VTEC, this is very much a surprise.
Is this ‘normal’? It’s been serviced, new cam belt and MOT.
Thanks

Selling my 1.6 auto petrol 2013 Astra J
Got another car and no room to keep this one. She’ll be missed when she finally gets a new keeper.

She looks sporty but it’s neither a sports car nor was it ever driven that way.

It’s been well looked after and I’ve been its 2nd owner since November 2016 at 13,181miles on the clock. It’s currently at 44,040. FSH, 7 stamps of which 6 were done by Main Dealer (see pics). Two keys and V5C are in my name.

Modifications done:
-Tinted windows.
