Waxing new paint
Well today I went to the Meguiars seminar.

We were told that if you go to a body shop or a paint a part yourself you should not wax it for 60-90 days, this allows the paint to harden properly. If you do wax before the 60-90 days the paint will be soft.

They said you can polish fresh paint.

Paint Trim
Hi Again!

Sorry for posting a few threads in a row, basically trying to carry out some of the work on my car which has been bugging me since day 1 but on the cheap rather than shelling out loads of money which I don't have!

Right, so I've always wanted the chrome trim around the doors...it's going to cost £80 for the stick on trim which is out of my budget at present. Is there any way to paint this trim a different colour (maybe even glossy black)? Assuming this is possible but wondering

Astra J Paint Colour
Have two questions here if anyone is able to answers them:

1. Is the technical grey paint colour known by any other name? I know that VX just change the name of colours but they actually are the same paint colour.

2. What's the best way of removing scratches from the paint work? I have a few which don't feel deep and are white in colour...These the type that come out easy?

Thanks

White paint
What do people recommend to help protect white paint? Before my Dad retired I used to use the stuff they used to clean and protect the hearse's and limos but can't remember what it was called.

Paint job
So after some tw*t decided to use my front bumper as a parking guide.

[Image: http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/10/25/...d9cd68.jpg]

Got a couple of quotes and couldn't justify the price they wanted so
I decided to have a go at respraying it myself.

Got genuine Vauxhall paint and lacquer from ebay. Masking tape from poundland, already had some primer already and just used old news paper to mask off.

Now it's by bo means a professional job but it's good enough that y

Claying a car for overspray/paint
Right so i took my car to get sprayed a week or so ago and i can see some small bits of paint where he must not of wiped it when wet etc, and not its stuck on my car dry.

People are saying for me to clay it off. So I've bought the G3 clay mitt from halfords.

But i was just wondering, if it will take the black excess paint off, how come it wont take off any other paint from the car?

Paint Warranty
Hey all

Okay so I'm sodding vauxhall off now as my warranty is well and truly void anyway so going going elsewhere for everything now. One thing though is they said I need to go back to them once a year to keep the paint Warranty and pay them 30 quid a time to reactivate it..
They couldn't even explain what that warranty covered... So does anyone know of its worth it? Or better to sod that off too and fix any corrosion or damage myself if it happens?
