Is Dexos 2 oil necessary
One of our local garages has a reputation as the safest MOT inspection garage in town and I am reluctant to change it. However they do not use Dexos 2, they use C3 fully synthetic.
I only do 10,000 per year these days but I am happy to do an annual oil change is enough for me, although the service manual says that a Dexos 2 service interval is 2 years.

To confuse things further the local Vauxhall dealer service centre recommend a yearly, not 2 yearly, service even for Dexos 2, and also info

1.6 CDTI snapped oil pump chain
Hi New to the forum and after a bit of info, just bought a 2014 1.6cdti with a snapped oil pump drive chain, Is this a common problem and any ideas what causes it, looks a bugger of a job, the owner was quoted £1800 at the garage hence selling it spares or repairs.
any info would be appreciated
     cheers

Oil and filter change
Can anybody recommend anywhere in the Leicester area for a oil. And filter change? Bit paranoid as the dexos 2 oil is needed?

How do you check gearbox oil on A20DTH/160ps?
We have a 2011/11 Astra J CDTI 160.

Always felt the gears are a bit stiff, is there a way of checking the oil level, or does something else somewhere else need some lubrication?

Comparing to my other cars, both Insignia's with the same engine, the Astra really requires more force on the gearstick to engage, not harsh, but noticably more pressure.

Clutch is fine, we have had to four years and its been the same since day 1.

Thanks.
