New Car is Poorly
Hey guys,

Picked up my latest vauxhall this afternoon, its an astra tourer 1.6 cdti (110) but it sadly never made it home.

About 10 miles into the drive, it shuddered on acceleration and went into ( what is assume ) limp home mode with the engine caption lit.

I managed to get it back to the dealer who will now investigate the issue. The engine light remained after a full restart.

Any ideas what this could be?

I have a courtesy car for the time being however i would like to go

What is this part called? Boot latch cover thingy.
Hi all,

I've been looking but not finding the name or part number for this part.
The thing i'm talking about is the plastic hinged cover for the boot lid latch.

Got the below picture of Google images. The part i'm talking about is on the bottem in the middle.
Mine broke off. One of the plastic hinges broke off. And I suspect the should be some sort of spring there aswell which I can't find (probably fell down that hole and is now lost).

Is this wear on the rod and crank bearings normal?
Given that I have a 2.0CDTI engine (A20DTH) and that last winter I had the low oil pressure light pop up for a second or so when starting the engine in the morning, I thought I should replace the O ring on the oil pickup from the sump.

After taking the sump off and removing the O ring I did notice that it was stiff and brittle and I replaced it. Since the O ring was so brittle I decided to take a couple of bearings off and inspect them and the crank. I've uploaded some images.

Can someone

Coolant is milkshake
Astra J auto Sri, 2010 plate, 50k miles.

The coolant in the expansion tank has turned into what I can only describe as a thick chocolate milkshake. Currently arguing with a finance company as I haven’t had the car long. Assumed it was an oil cooler problem however two garages won’t touch it because it might not be an oil cooler issue, Vauxhall themselves have quoted six hours to flush and strip it all for a diagnosis but think it’s engine oil and not transmission oil and have said it might n

Is Dexos 2 oil necessary
One of our local garages has a reputation as the safest MOT inspection garage in town and I am reluctant to change it. However they do not use Dexos 2, they use C3 fully synthetic.
I only do 10,000 per year these days but I am happy to do an annual oil change is enough for me, although the service manual says that a Dexos 2 service interval is 2 years.

To confuse things further the local Vauxhall dealer service centre recommend a yearly, not 2 yearly, service even for Dexos 2, and also info
