Astra J 2010 1.6 has servivce light on. Can be reseted by Menu button but comes back after 10 minutes. Code reader gives code 597 - related obviously to thermostat. Engine temp does not come higher than 75C, normally about 90C.  Both upper and lower cooler hoses are warm but not hot. Heater and ac works normally (blowing warm air). Hi all, I bought an Astra 2.0 CDTI recently and they fitted a new cambelt and waterpump as part of the sale. Just 2 weeks after getting the car the auxiliary belt shredded and snapped on the M11 and subsequently the brakes, power steering and just about every other light came on on the dash before the battery lost charge and it died. I had my car at service and they told me I had to change my turbo. Is this a common problem? 

The fault codes was P0299 and P003A. 

Is there any knows issues with the turbo on this car? It has only gone 75000 km / 46000 miles

My Astra-J is a 2013 (63 plate) Elite model.

It seems very selective on telling me what bulbs have failed.

It has previously let me know I had a failed number plate light, DRL, dipped beam, and a brake light (no, not all at the same time )

However, it didn't inform me that I had a failed tail light bulb (one of the two pairs in the hatch), or more recently a high beam bulb.
