Retrofit battery cover
Some cars have the negative battery cover some don't.

I ordered this from Autovaux at a total cost £7.49 + postage and was surprised it arrived today (Sunday).

Part number 13320713

Real simple to fit just clips over the battery

Be aware sellers on eBay want well over the odds for this (£35).

The Battery
Has anyone taken the battery out of a CDTi 1.7 . .

It isn't just a two terminal job and it looks like the handles on the battery are removed from this big, lump, of a battery- 75AH and 720 CCA !!

Apart from the removal they don't seem to have the right one at the VX dealers plus , it seems the likely cost is £140

How To: Remove battery
Tools needed:

* 10mm spanner/socket - preferably a long socket but a normal one will do
* 13mm spanner/socket
* Flat head screwdriver - preferably a long one

I Thought I would do a how to guide on removing the battery (shame I didn't need to do this at Xmas, else i could have won the draw haha) as there isn't anything online and there's abit to dismantle. Apologies if some of the pictures look like there are bits already removed. I took photos as I started to put things back together.

Anyway,

No Dash Lights or Instruments / battery off
I have just fitted a tow bar wiring kit to my gtc 1.4
I took of the negative battery connection.
Added the wiring as per instructions now when i start the car i have no dials or lights on dash no sat nav nothing as if a fuse had blown but they are all in order. I undone the wiring but this has not cured the problem.
Could this be down to the battery being off or is it more drastic.
If it is the battery can i do a simple fix ie reset or is it a case of in to the dealership :(

2.0 cdti battery replacement
The battery on my 2011 2.0 cdti J needs changing so picked one up from ecp, everywhere I have checked have said it's a 100 type battery it needs, but the one from ECP is too short and doesn't fit in the tray fully. Looking at the dimensions online it is 278x17x17cm, but the one in the car at the minute is 310x17x17cm and has a 108 printed on the top. Ive had a look around and the next one is a 110 model which is the correct size but just wanted to make sure or check if anyone else has had the sa

M072 drama when disconnecting the battery
Thought I would post this here as a learning etc.

On Saturday my car flashed up a svs message and the car went into limp mode. So I removed the tuning box and tried to get it out of limp mode without success. I then decided to disconnect the battery and leave the car for an hour or 2 so that the ecu would reset.

Anyway impatience got the better of me and I reconnected the battery after an hour. The ecu had not reset but worse than that the m072 lost its mind with the screen staying on and no

Service ESP/battery draining
Hi people, I have astra j (62 plate, 5 door 1.7 diesel)

Just wondering if other people have encountered 'service esp' issues or had problems where the car battery is draining and not able to start.

I hard wired some footwell lights in using 12V port on astra J, this isn't a new thing I just replaced the old ones as they broke. Since then issues with car.

Local dealership have it now and at first they called me saying everything was fine and no faults but when they tried to take it off
