Hi, I have a 2013 Astra J GTC VXR stage 1. For the past few weeks i have been having acceleration issues where if i'm in 4th, 5th, 6th and i put my foot to the floor the car doesn't gain speed. the rev counter just jumps up and down and sounds like i'm revving the engine as if it's on neutral. I've taken the car to Vauxhall and they couldn't find an issue. Any suggestions and solutions would be appreciated.

Hi, apologies if I'm breaking any rules by asking here. I've searched and searched and found very little info from Google or elsewhere. It may be that I'm not using the correct terms, this is why I'm hoping that someone might be able to assist me here.

Tldr (too long didn't read):
I have an electrical static noise coming from the dash passenger side. It sounds like when a speaker is loosely connected and it crackles.

Details:
The noise began after installing a vibe active sub. The sub already has a hi pass, so I used wago connectors to run a speaker wire direct to that using guides to understand where each wire should go. The install went well, the sub sounds nice. At first the noise was not apparent at all. One week after install I noticed the sound coming from what appears to be the passenger tweeter area.

When it occurs:
It doesn't happen when I blast the aircon, or turn the fans on full power.
It does happen when I'm travelling at over 25mph it gets louder and the tone changes slightly the faster I travel.
It doesn't happen when I rev the engine whilst stationary. It continues if I disengage the gear whilst travelling and release the accelerator.
This all indicates a vibration issue, or an electrical contact possibly touching an earth (I doubt this though as I've not interfered with such and the wago joins I'd tested and were well done). But the sound isn't a vibration sound, hard to tell of course whilst driving, but it really does sound like a badly connected speaker with the wire being moved around (I'm kinda hoping so one will know what I mean by that)

Things I've tried, I have tested for a good earth. Resistance is 0.5, that appears fine. I've disconnected the sub speaker wires (hi pass in from back of speaker out in stereo), no difference. I've disconnected the sub entirely, no difference. I've removed the passenger side tweeter, no difference.

My next test has to wait until the weekend, I'll dismount the glove box and get my wife to drive it whilst I listen to localise the sound. I may also go through the whole stereo removal process and double check everything I've done when fitting the sub wires.

Has anyone got any idea what this could be/experienced a similar issue?

Thanks in advance

Hi, I’m having a problem on my 2010 1.6 Sri Astra J.
The cooling fan is running all the time, even on motorway driving, it won’t shut off.
I’ve had a diagnostic tester on and it flagged up the following code.

P0480 - Cooling Fan Relay 1 Control Circuit

So far I’ve replaced the following:
- the sensor at the bottom of the radiator
- the expansion tank (with sensor)
- the thermostat with built-in sensor

I’ve also checked the 3 relays for continuity and operation with 12v supply, and noted they all work perfectly off the car, which suggests when fitted one or more are receiving power.

I don’t have access to an electrical diagram for the cooling system, which is making further troubleshooting difficult.

Anyone have an idea what to do next?

Gruntings all!

Firstly I apologise this is a bit long due to listing the details and stuff I've already tried.

Out driving the car a lot for the first time in months on a jolly to lincs on Weds this week became aware of 2 problems on the day that I'm struggling to resolve. Everything OK first thing. 250 miles down to Lincs OK.

First problem is right rear indicator. When I signal right, I get 3 flashes and then an error saying check the bulb, along with the typical fast flash failed bulb symptom. If I cancel it and re signal I get 3 flashes, then the error repeats etc ad infinitum.

I've had the cluster off replaced the bulb, no difference, the error still occurs.

During more in depth fault finding yesterday I discovered that both the fog and reversing lights are also u/s. Both clusters removed and bulbs checked today with a tester, both are OK. When I switch on the fog, the dash indication lights up. When i select reverse gear, with the ignition on but eng not running, theres nothing at the back from either light. I've tried it engine running in the dark looking for the illumination in the mirrors, nothing from either.

So. One of the forums mentions a fuse think it was no 10 iirc in the glove box panel, linked to external lights, anyway checked that and its good. Is there another fuse anyone is aware of that could be the cause? I've downloaded diagrams and keys for the fuseboxes and the fuses that tally with the car.

One other thing that's jiggled in my head reading up, is that the service vehicle soon indication pops up intermittently since the car was serviced late last year. I put this down to the garage not resetting it, but I read that this is now used in lieu of a general fault if something else is going wrong. I just cancel it off when it appears.

2nd problem, when setting off to come home, the sat nav plugged into the front console power cig socket didn't turn on with the ignition. The power to the front sockets gone off, but was working fine all the way down. The fusebox key lists this as no 6, front power socket, and the fuse is good. Is there another fuse ?

Now I can't rule out all these failures happening at the same time, potentially thru 1 cause. Certainly this power loss and the indicator issue were picked up quickly, the fog / reversing God knows, could have been weeks as they're not a Cambus checked light - and my other half isn't the most observant of women... Anyway in a desperation measure, I sequentially removed every, and I mean every fuse in the glove and engine boxes and visually checked em. All are good. None were blown.

I am literally stumped. With these assorted issues all of which i believe are fairly recent ie the last 2 months, I now can't help but wonder if I've got an electrical issue somewhere that's beginning to deteriorate.

Car is a 15 plate 2L CDTI 5 d hatch. Cars bog standard throughout, yeah boring I know, apart from LED replacement 501s in the courtesy and all 6 tail lights, which I had planned, and have gone in today with me taking the clusters off. They are OK and working.

One other thing I did forget, the stop start has stopped working too. It was erratic but hasn't worked for a good 3 or 4 months.

Suggestions and solutions needed. Thx in advance,

Hi All,

I am the owner of an Astra OPC J V16, 2013. The car has 50K miles. A week ago, Ive noticed a high pitched noise coming from the posterior. The noise is not loud but it's pretty noticable and never stops. It's killing my brain, especially now that I've noticed it, I can't just stop hearing it, even when I am not inside the car
Noise ONLY stops when breaking, so I think it might be the pads. Somebody else suggested it might be the an electric issue with the petrol pump.

I've uploaed a video of the noise here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bn8KtGCL1SI

My car is under warranty with dealer, I am going to schedule an appointment. and see what he says. In the meantime I would like to get your take on the issue. Eventually, I would like to know if it's a normal noise on this car (I took the car 3 weeks ago), I am not really sure the noise came up more recently, or it was there since the beginning.

Thanks guys!

Hello all,

Useless with cars but my GTC (2014 (64 plate)) the gear knob has effectively broke. The little silver latch that I hold has broken. Vauxhall are quoting my 600 quid but I cba to pay that. Really don't want to.

I'm wondering if someone could help me identify what replacement I'd require? I have no idea about cars. Quite frankly I bought the GTC 4 years ago and I drive it. Never had an issue with it thankfully.

I'm not particularly knowledgeable when it comes to what Opals are or Astra J's and I'm seeing Vauxhall Safira around alot (I know what a Safira is) but I'm struggling to find the gear knob I need to buy off ebay for my GTC. (I'm in the UK)

I think I've narrowed it down to a few options....

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/For-Vauxhal-O...SweG9fomyG

Can someone help me confirm whether either of the two above would be suitable? I have a feeling the first link *should* work...

Firstly hi Everyone

new to this forum so hopeful be able to get some help form you guys as heard some good things...

I have a 2014 Astra J 1.7 Diesel that's just failed its MOT due to wipers not providing water.

both front and back decided to stop so did the usual, blew some air through the pipes and cleaned the nozzles and washer bottle out

wasn't getting a hum from the motor when the stalk was pulled forward or backwards so purchased a new washer pump which solved the rear issue but the front still wasn't working so bought a new stalk from Vauxhall fitted that and no change.

when you push backwards everything works as it should, when you pull forward the wipers sweep as normal but no motor sound or water.

its not the pipes as i swapped round the fittings so pressing backwards sprayed the front and everything was OK

however doesn't seem to want to engage the motor when pulled forward

anyone got any ideas, it doesn't come up with any errors that i can see so very puzzled, have i missed something simple or is this a modual or earthing issue and can it be solved easily.

got a free re-test in 7 days so limited time to fix and this is all it failed on so any help would be much appreciated

over to you guys and girls

I have an Astra J hatchback, 2015 reg, I think it is “pre facelift” but not sure.
It has slow punctures on both off side wheels

My tyre garage (Formula 1 Autos) told me that air is leaking from between the valve body and the alloy wheel seat.
They say that if I can get hold of replacement valves they will replace them. They say that this will not involve disturbing the TPMS.

Are they correct?
Is the TPMS separate from the valve on this car? All I can find are combined TPMS and valve units.
Is it worth just screwing the nut down a bit?
I have heard of “screwed type” and “clipped type”, TPMS which type do I have?
Do I have manual learn or auto learn?

I have attached images of

1. Mine in place
2. Version A available on internet looks like mine
3. Version B on internet. Is this the same as A but with the securing nut removed?
4. Valve only, with no tpms, is this designed for my car?

A large reputable local tyre fitter, Micheldever Tyres, have a universal tpms device called an i-smart, does anyone know anything about this brand?
