Ooh, very nice mate. When are you fitting this then?

Indeed! And not sure dude! Plan was to fit the module first and wire it up etc. But the provided cables won't be long enough so need to wait for extra wiring to come from eBay or Russell before I can do that! I wanted to have that done first so that I could test the system out before leaving National Tyres who I'm gonna get to install the valves...May be another week at this rate :(

Will report back when there's progress! Have ordered the extra long AV cable anyway.

Small update guys! Started on the wiring today for the tpms after Russell worked out the wiring diagram for me that I needed to follow to get everything functioning.

Essentially the TPMS control unit takes over the job of relaying the reverse camera signal to the head unit so it will now become a wired reverse camera rather than a wireless one once I've completed the TPMS install.

I've edited the power and RCA cable to the front of the car from the rear cubby hole where the TPMS unit lives and tucked the wiring behind the glove box until my final part arrives so I can connect all the wiring up and then take the car to have the TPMS valves installed

Okay all wired up and i think it's working. The reverse camera works anyway which is now wired and activated via the tpms module.

Need to find time to have the sensor valves installed now

I am interested to see how you get on with those as I was considering a set, but thought I would wait for someone else to be the guinea pig first lol

Ha yeah I saw a few people were on the fence about them...But yeah will do!

Yeah I'd be keen to know how you get on with those led bulbs. I won't be trying any of those Halfords pure white bulbs in a hurry again.

I think the Halford ones are fine...just wanted brighter ones so hoping LED ones are brighter

Just a little update for the leds from hids direct. @Jonathaneuk had them and he said initially he got an error pop up but they've been fine ever since and they're bright!

Here's a picture!

I seen them in person on Saturday and they're very bright mate. Look awesome up close! I've already ordered some myself too.

Do they dim down though when the sidelights come on?

A lot of the LEDs I've tried stay super bright at 21w and don't dim down even though the description states that they do.
Reply
Good question! I hope they do...apparently you can fail an MOT if they don't!

@Rusty2009 has done my LED conversion too! very happy with the results!!

Aha! Most do say they cause errors.. They didn't with mine but each person's mileage varies!

In for a penny in for a pound, you may as well get some resistors for them now you have the bulbs.
Reply
Yeah got some coming. Will it hurt to have the cap off the back off lamp? With the resistor harness I don't think I'll get the caps on

If you don't mind cutting the wires you could just drill a hole in the cap and thread the wires through and then reattach the wires...

looks like i best get the soldering iron out, thanks for the info

In theory you could drill a hole on the middle, same as picture above, and then saw from the outside edge into the centre. That way you could prize it open and slide the wires through the cut and into the centre whole without the need of cutting the wires... if that makes sense

More chance of water getting in the though mate. It's a pain either imo

I think I'll solder it. Don't want water in there. Will put some silicone over the hole after

Sending them back. Even with resistors they didn't even light up. Just as well
I tested before I cut or drilled anything.

Hi Doughy,

Ah right mines 2011 so most likely will act the same way yours has. Cheers for the info.

@tonto you had any issues with yours? Managed to fit any?

I think that 90% of those that have purchased them so far are getting errors, which to me would be false advertising, in order to call them error free the majority of those sold should be error free, not the minority.

Exactly. He told me over the phone they are not 100% error free and are not guaranteed to not throw up errors. So if that is the case how can they be canbus leds?

Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
Reply
You need load resisters to be error free there is no such thing as a canbus free led unless it is not monitored by the canbus

I originally didn't have the error was fine !

But now the error is permanently coming on!
Annoying but I don't mind cause I love them !

I'll get used to the error

Okay screen conversion done!

Happy with how it looks too! Doesn't look like it does in the Golf's (solid black background and white text) but it does look good I think!

The whole panel itself lights up and then you get the illuminated white digits so you sort of end up to white digits and dark grey background due to it lighting up.

Sure can! Looked very readable indeed before it went dark. Probably more so than the red one as the white contrasts with the black rather than having two shades of red like with the stock leds

I would like to turn all the interior lights white on mine also, but I don't understand a thing about that stuff and would only mess all things up eheh

Congrats on your's Sheppy!

Thank you! and go be honest I couldn't have done it myself either! Russell did my button conversions from red to purple and a chap from Bradford did my speedo screen! Where are you based? Russell can do most stuff via the post and the chap from Bradford you'd have to go and visit
