Hi, own a 61 plate 2.0D sri cdt, could anyone put me in the right direction of changing a standard dip headlight bulb? I'm having some problems and hope to get some guidance in getting it sorted, thanks

welcome to vxoc

there are two very small torque screws that hold the bulb in just give them one turn each
and then twist the bulb out

Really there's screws, I've been going by the manual and a Haynes book that both just say turn anti-clockwise which was stiff as you like!

Bulb went, I changed it but it stopped working within a day so went back to Halfords to check it to which they said bulb was fine, they refitted and same again it initially worked but wouldn't within hours! I thought something must have come loose but it all seems tight as? It's only if I tap hard on the rear of the bulb holder it comes on! Now Halfords didn't screw out so maybe needs loosening to get it back in property?

think you have a connection problem with the plug
you need to take it out and check the pins in the plug they may have broke it or pulled a wire out
also what bulb did they give you

The bulb is a bosch but couldn't say exactly right now, Halfords dude said it was the correct one for me car, do you mean inside the plug? I wiggled the life out of the wires going into the plug and all seemed pretty solid, and the points the bulb plug into are really still, does the plug just prize open do you know?

no you can not open it up you need to check for a loose wire they may have just pulled it by the wires
and loosened the pins turn lights on and push each wire in and out and look for the fault
halfords are useless
