Ah MOT I thought you said service lol, MOT I take it to my local MOT place who I've used for years.
Got an idea for a mod! Going to get one of these cameras:
Connect it to the head unit via USB and run it out of the car, through the engine bay and have it pointing out of the grill. Then I'll have an app that constantly records video when the car is on and store it on an sd card. So will be a secret hidden grill/dash cam!
Better than having a big camera in the screen the whole time which I'm always worried to leave stuck there in case someone decides they want to steal it! Ha

I went through three with the one I have now being my preferred one. Like you, I didn't want a bug one stuck on the window. I wanted to not be able to see it and basically forget about it which I can do.

Found the one bhalay has and it was more than double the price of the flexi camera I linked too. I've gone for the flexi one and will get it in a few days and try and install at the weekend. Will hunt for an app that records in the background and have it run in the background on boot on the headunit and specify that it records to the SD
Will secure the camera head in the upper grill near the badge with some putty sugru that I used for the rear view mirror surround...that stuff is great!
also thanks @bhalay207 looks good but i have the mirror surround now don't I so would be off centre if I'd have got yours...plus it was out of my price range at present...
Yeah me too! Haha. Gonna be a pain finding the app I think... There are background recording apps but want one that auto starts recording when system comes on

That would be spot on! I've always wondered why manufacturers don't offer oem dashcams

Good idea rusty! May aswell make use of that space eh
Also found a recording app...click the app and it opens and auto records to an SD card. i will have that app boot on startup and job done! Will clear the SD once a week and that should do it
Oh and the app does auto sync to Google drive which is spot on and will work great with my mobile WiFi dongle I have connected to the head unit

What you'll need sheppy is a task startup app where you can specify a app to start up etc when system boots up

Good idea with tasker @jj0063! Wish there was a free version to try though as it's 3 quid ha.
@marcus I've gone back to the stock ROM for the time being ha.

Found another app called macro Droid which seems to do the same as tasker and let's you boot apps on startup among other things
Orite chaps! So I have just replaced my china shark fun with a proper dummy official shark fin which @rusty2009 sold to me... It looks great I think and is in that nice black that his car is in.
Anyway! My other one was secured in place with some silicone I had and it did a good job... Too good a job though! I'm struggling to get it off now! (the silicone that is). Below is a pic of the new fin and you can see the silicone around it
I've just bought this stuff to try and get it off but was wondering if it will damage the paint?

Tell you what will get that off. G3 paste. Worked for me to remove the silicone when I stuck side skirts on

Hey!
Nahhh just don't have it anymore. I literally listened the the radio once for a week 3 years ago when I got the car and never again since. Don't like listening to it so doesn't bother me not having it.
Right chaps! Does anyone know of any good aftermarket single pipe cutout diffusers for around £150? Mrs is gonna get me one for Xmas lol. I'm thinking this one from RDX but it needs painting... If I do go for this one not sure where to get it black or body colour?
@sheppy ok cool. Do you happen to know if that diffuser fits over the vx line rear bumper? In the pictures on their website I can only see the pre facelift / facelift rear bumpers but not vx line / BI turbo.

Yeah it is mate I was gonna get the one you have but then found this and it's listed as being the newer model to the one you have so though I may aswell get this as they were both the same price
Yeah looks like it mate. Mine has a battery I believe whereas that's got a capacitor. The case looks less blocky aswell. I wouldn't mind a rear cam for mine but I think the tints would affect the footage, and I don't want to stick a camera to my tinted window lol
From what I can gather, a capacitor ran camera is better in a hot country as the batteries can swell, leak or explode in extreme temperatures. And constantly changing and discharging a battery is no good for it. Other than that I don't really know myself. Whether you can can use it unplugged remains to be seen, however if you're hardwiring it like I have that won't even be a problem anyway.
Aha! Right yeah that makes sense... I was thinking I was losing some feature (using it while the car is off) but then again I wouldn't want or need that anyway. Cheers for that! I'm lucky too as I already had a mini USB cable going from my USB socket in the glove box right up the pillar and into the roof... It's sat there unused atm! So can just connect it to this new dash Cam and good to go!

Camera came today and I installed it right away. It's not bad! Not that discreet but better than having a go pro sat in my windows like I used to have.
Issue I have is i have it wired up to a permanent live. Now will this eventually cut off therefore kill power to the unit (what I want) or will it sit, record and keep the thing powered forever and record hours of footage when I'm not in the car and eventually kill the car battery?
Problem solved! I just connected it via the cigarette lighter socket and router the wire to the roof like you're supposed to do and it's coming on and off as it should do now
That makes sense! Ha. Well... It's all sorted now, just have the wore tucked down under the mat in the middle and then having it running behind glove box and up the pillar
I was gonna do it that way but number 1 I wanted to test the unit first to decide if I wanted to keep it and couldn't do that if I'd stripped the power cable. 2. I remember reece having issues where he broke his socket by trying to splice his dash Cam power cable to it! Ha
