Yeah as Sheppy said mate. There will be a hole at top and should have a piece of plastic sticking out that pushes in and out to turn on and off

I have a hole but no plastic sticking out to turn my light off. It would seem my bulb has also blown haha

Soooo I've bought an odb2 dongle thing for the car and also a proper electric cordless screwdriver too... Bosch one with loads of extra bosch bits including torx and hex etc never had one before! Always used standard screwdrivers!

I loved my cordless screwdriver.... That was until the batteries died and then I had to revert to manual....pain!

Air filter installed silly question but does it matter which way round the filter goes in the box? Mine is like this



Those slots in the filter are going towards the windscreen... Is that correct or should the filter be the other way around so the slots are inning left to right? Or does it not matter?

Umm I hope it doesn't matter, I just put mine in! Just checked and that's same way I have mine and not had any bother!

Ermmmm it's defo an air filter! That's for sure hahaha. Can't feel any difference if I'm honest... When I revved it with the bonnet open it did sound a tad more muffled and beefier but that's about it

Setting myself a challenge to get a HappyBlue dongle which allows for the opening of the boot via the key (among other things) AND to try and find gas powered struts powerful enough to fully lift the boot lid once the boot has been popped via the key

The gtc boot could be popped from the key without unlocking the other doors

Yeaaahh limited to GTC but must have more powerful struts than the 5 door! Unless it has a lighter boot?

The boot never lifted fully just enough to get your hand in to lift it manually

Hahaha nothing wrong with prepping mate! And i can...sort of! I mean we have stuff to pay for (new house, wedding, holidays etc.) but i am paying into all of the savings funds for each. Mrs moans when I spend money on anything car related but what she doesn't know etc. etc.

what we have in those pics is the android UI, the driving UI and a bunch of cool live car stats I found in a car app.

Things that are a bit weird ATM are:

When I open driver door it says that the passenger door is open and vice versa, and music streaming ain't working yet. Rest is spot on incl. 3G via dongle

Me tooooo! When I get some time to play with it

One thing to note...the wiring is ermmm...like a birds nest! Ha. Easy to connect everything up...just connect an extension block and then connect every wire that comes with the unit to the back of the unit and then just plug every other cable you have from the factory looms to the back of the unit too...you end up with about 2 or 3 that won't fit in the back of the unit so they're redundant.

After that you've just have to cram it all back behind the unit and push it towards the back and hope you don't break anything! Hahaha

I am mate!! Just wanna have a go on it now! Haha anything else?? I'll get those videos for you anyway mate...I did test a few of those things and they worked great

BT: Connected with my phone just fine, pressed a button on the screen and it synced my whole contact book from the phone to the car. Test call rang just fine, answered via the screen and call sounded okay...I think...Need to have a test of that again.

Nav: This is provided by a on screen button called "Navigation" and open an app called "iGO" (note that these don't appear to be android app store apps but proper apps designed for the system only usable by this system). Anyway, programmed a quick route and it found me right away...VERY nice UI.

Apps: Haven't tried any except the built in ones yet but will download some from the play store, try those and also give a description of the in built apps.

Music: Radio worked VERY well, actually sounded clearer than the radio via the VX system even with my 5 quid china shark fin. Not tested anything else.

SD Card Music: Have an SD card, will try it tomorrow with music

Reverse Camera: Wired up the receiver behind the head unit, the power just needs providing to the transmitter in the boot...will do it tomorrow. However when i put the car in reverse a live video feed with guide lines instantly appears on the unit! Very quick but obv no video feed yet till I finish the wiring.

Quick final note...The UI is VERY VERY responsive, all the "apps" are VERY VERY well designed and look like something you'd see on a top end car screen...all looks like they have been designed specifically for being on a car system and nothing is just plonked on top...all looks like a proper car UI...every app seems to be this way, not just a reworked "app" that could be on any old system...these seem beskpoke

Couple of final things...I THINK the bluetooth music streaming required me to be within the bluetooth app...not the "music" app that I was looking in...Will try this tomorrow. Also all steering controls work as you'd expect and so do all controls on the factory unit except the hazard/lock buttons...which I forgot to plug back in!! Hahahaha

So I've got the Bluetooth music streaming working... Just needed to open an app on the device before playing the song on the phone and it works fine. You can then close the app and do whatever and the music carries on.

Two issues... Some of the indicators like the doors and also the heated seats etc are the wrong way around... Says passenger heated seat is on when the driver one is on.

Next I can't seem to get the info I'm MPH from KMPH lol. I'll work on out today and get back to you all.

Need to take the unit apart again as I forgot the speaker which does the door chimes, lock car sounds and the indicator sounds! Haha

Soooo reverse camera works vet a bit of static like an old vhs every now and then but probably because of the placed I've out the receiver (wedged in between ***** loads of wires behind the head unit). It's not that bad though . Also seem to get two lots of guide lines... Guessing one lot are provided by the head unit and the other lot by the camera... Will check settings to see if there's a way to turn this off!



Indicator sounds work fine now... I forgot to plug the speaker in that it uses for its beeping! Ha
