Spent some time on the way to work this morning playing about and it seems that in 1st the noise is not there, or at least not audible in the cabin. In 2nd it's there, just, above about 3k revs and only on full throttle. In 3rd and above its there above about 2.5k and builds with revs. not sure what all that means.
