Hi guys in dan. just bought my first astra j and I'm getting a clicking notice when I accelerate fairly hard in first and second gear then when I use the gears to slow down it happens again it will click twice each time. Any one else had this issue. Picked it up from vx today and they said it was a dry cv joint and they sorted it but it was still happening as I pulled out of the car park. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Hi Dan,

I would take it straight back and get it looked at again. If needs be take them out in the car and show them it's still doing it, likewise when they have finished, have them take you out to prove it's sorted.

I took them out the first time and the service manager said he could not hear it but said to book it in any way. Not happy with the service either going to ring them tomorrow because they left cv grease on the side skirt and and on the drivers side rear window. Car also had a recall for an ecu update.

Took them for a drive last night and they can hear it now. They said it needs a new cv joint and will try and do it under the warranty.

They could refuse to do it under warranty by using the fair wear and tear clause but the fact you've only had the car 2/3 weeks I think that would be pretty unfair of them.

if i were you i would get an independent view from your local garage and also a price
as you will save money as the dealers will be well over priced on repairs

Im pretty sure its the cv joint aswell. If they refuse to do it i will change it myself but if i can get it done by warranty thats a bonus for me. Its been there since i had the car so im sure they will sort it.

it is not my CV joint my click click in first and second is coming from the rear
took my mate out and he says it sounds like the rear brakes but i have just changed the pads
a few weeks back and everything is new and it was clicking before this so it is going on the ramps next week
anyway good luck with your car

They have had the car for 13 days now and still not fixed. They say that the shaft popping out had nothing to do the fact the cv joint was changed 2 days before which i find strange. I rang them to find out who was paying if the warranty wont pay out and they said they will as a good will gesture although ive had the car 41days and its been in vx for 14 of them. Are you going to do the cv jount yourself ?

As they were working in that area i would say good will gesture means we blanked up
lets hope this is your last problem i had a few at the start but have been problem free for 2 years now until i read this post anyway Lol
my mate will be doing my one in a few weeks.
so lets hope you get it back soon problem free this time
