On so my 1.3 eco tech seems to be drinking diesel lately.
I remember when i could do 70-85 miles with the needle moving after filling up
Yet this pic moved from full to that line and only done 66miles.
Im on the next line down and done 110miles
As you see the car has done a lot of miles and in a year i have done 20,000.
Car had a service back in October but is there something more i need to do or change.

i think it will just be the cold weather Lewis
sounds like this has been going on for a few mouths
so i would rule the DPF out it wont do any harm cleaning it
but the cold weather will reduce MPG for sure i would not worry about it mate
have a read through this

After reading that mate, today i noticed i think its the gauge being out it seems to be all over the place.
Just as i was ordering food at mcdonalds on flat level surface.
Then 3 miles to my mother parking flat and level yet its a difference

if you are going to go to the dealers with this
i would recommend taking a few pics as you have
as this will be hard for them to see other wise

well after the calliper has been changed, i would of thought my fuel usage would of gone back to normal.
Yet nothing has changed :( just filled up and my last tank i done 437.4 miles with average fuel consumption of 44.4mpg
On tuesday i had one of my vacuum pipes spilt and that through up an error, but vauxhall have said it wouldn't be related in anyway.
a mate from work has an Astra J 1.6 11plate petrol and he gets the same usage as i do, yet I have smaller engine and diesel WTF!!

i would be very much surprised he gets anywhere near 44 MPG with a 1.6 NA
more like 35 mpg at best
if you are getting 44.4 MPG with a 1.3 cdti it sounds about wright to me
in this cold weather and running heaters, lights, etc
it will creep back up when its warmer for sure
also dont believe the quoted MPG from Vauxhall there way off.

But it never used to, russell and i was on about it earlier. Only since putting vci code for front fogs i been having the issue.
I lift share with him and we go a total 70 miles a day just for work. He starts the week with full tank and ends just over the red.

Leiws having a bent or damaged drive shaft wont be helping your MPG
get that sorted out then check your mpg again

A year or so ago, a friend introduced me to http://www.fuelly.com which is free to join. It tracks your mpg to put it simple. Basically when you fill up, on your receipt will be how much you spent, price per litre and how many litres you filled up with. Each time you fill up, reset your trip meter and go to the fuelly website with how much you filled up with etc and it monitors your fuel usage. I have a 2010 Astra 1.7cdti Elite and my average mpg according to fuelly (it averages your mpg from all the details you enter over each time) I am getting 47 mpg.
My best mpg has been 53 mpg
I have filled up 41 times
Total miles tracked 14,765
Cost per mile £0.127.
Tip - When you enter a fuel up, do not tick the 'This is a partial fuel up' box at the bottom as this affects the graph that plots your fill ups over the year.
You can also browse other Fuelly users vehicles to see what mpg others are achieving

I refuse to do this as it will highlight how much I spend on fuel which I dare not find out... I know I've done 85k miles in 29 months!
