Hey folks,

Following on from my other thread, where I was asking for advice about an Astra-J, you guys gave me some great feedback and pretty much turned me away from the 1.7 CDTI when I was on the verge of buying one...so thank you and hope thats a decision that serves me well.

Anyway, many searches and viewing on from that thread, and I have now finally bought an Astra-J.

So, I have found a 2.0 CDTI, ELITE, in white, which is what the misses wanted.

Its pretty much fully loaded, except Sat Nav and Bluetooth. I was actually amazed to see that its got folding mirrors also.

So, here it is, in the flesh - your comments are most welcome.

Please note that I will be asking for some assistance with some niggles.

Thanks again for your comments and advice on the other thread.

Its never going to be enough, but im relatively happy with the sale price.
It would be soo funny if I added some police panels to the car .....!!

Mods list... I will be doing the mudflaps soon, and also considering upgrading to 18" alloys, off a GTC. Should be straight fit shouldnt they, as they are also 5x115.

Yes a straight fit however the tyre sizes are different. 18s shouldn't be a problem but usually the 5dr has a 225/45/18 where as gtc has 225/50/18 I believe.

It says there that it should be

8J x 18 offset 46, tyre 235/45R18,

But the wheels I have are off a GTC, which are 7.5J x 18.

Whats the difference and implications?

GTC 18" wheels are 7.5J x 18 ET 41... 235 50 18
5dr J wheels are 8.0J x 18 ET 46... 235 45 18

There is no real determinable difference to be worried about, you would be doing 38.3mph when your speedo reads 37.2mph. Scrub radius is the same.

If the tyres on the GTC wheels were 235 35 18 you would be doing 34.6mph when your speedo reads 37.2. Positive scrub radius (about 13 mm). Scrub radius will be changed by 13 mm, this may affect the car's handling.

Use this tool to compare different wheel/ tyres... http://www.wheel-size.com/calc/?wheel1=2...0mm&sr=0mm

The GTC wheels I have dont have any tyres on them.
The standard 17" wheels currently on the car are 225/50/17....whats your advice? What should I get fitted?

I would stick either 235 40 18's or 235 45 18's on the GTC alloys, neither will mess with your speedo. See which size gives you the better deal.

Go with 235 45 18s mate as that's what's meant to be on the car!
