Going to start servicing my car tomorrow and checked the maximum weight capacity on the axle stands which is 2 tonne. Are these safe to use on an astra j 5 door?

The sticker on your door pillar will tell you the front axel weight of your car, which in my case (2.0cdti) is 1140kg. So a 2 tonne axel stand is more than capable of supporting either one of your axels, unless you have a cow sitting on your bonnet or in your boot lol.
