As above I have just got an ice white astra which i upgraded from a 1.4 08 astra and I'm in love however I'm just wondering am I stuck in terms of upgrading the speed of this car due to it being a 63 plate and being s/s? I mean I'm in no hurry due to only just getting the car im just wondering what my options will be when the time comes. Am I stuck to just a pedal box or are there any alternatives?

I would steer clear of tuning box's and go for a remap.

Astra-J 2.0 CDTI S/S
Retrofitted AFL, TPMS, Navi950, BT, DAB, Rear Camera, Infinity sound system, Towbar, Flexfloor & more.
I can do programming and retrofits using genuine GM MDI and Dealer software.

Hmm the only issue with this is that I hear you have to send your ecu off for a few days is this still the case?

Yes still the case unless you go to a good company @Dicko went to kent.

I would advise you have it done on rolling road so it is custom to your car.

Someone say my name
I had a turning box on for a long time and I thought it was very good but that only spike the power curve
Sobi have had a custom map its absolutely fantastic.some people have had a plug in and play maps but that is a one map for any car and you get what you pay for
The company who did mine say if my car has to go into the dealer and thay wipe the map thay will remap it for free.
It took them all day to do it I lost count the Times the refitted the ecu and did a power run
My advice it get a custom map well worth the extra money it transforms the car from fast to unbelievable

I emailed a copy earlier about it they said 4-5 hours and £400 so im looking at that for the new year, I queried a hardcut limiter with him an he said he would add it for free if I wanted it but he wouldn't recommend it due to it damaging engine components, has anyone ever had one ?

I wouldn't have a hardcut limiter it will damage your cat and dpf when it sends unburnt fuel into the exhaust

Hello,
My first post on here, so a newbee lol.
Do you have a fvsh with your motor? If so, I'd stick with vaux, as you may gain a 80% contribution to your f40 gearbox repair or replacement, even when your car is just outside manufacturers warranty. if not, I'd take it to an indy gearbox specialist. The f40 is usually reliable, compared to the m32.
I own the same type car to yours, mine being on a 63 plate too, but the auto version. I've just had my box replaced under warranty, outside the warranty period. As I registered the fault, prior to the warranty running out.
I've also in the past had a couple of m32's replaced on previous Astra J's, under warranty. I've not had much luck with gaerboxes on the J's. Although I've owned vaux's since the 80's. Never had any major box issues on previous earlier models.

Ahh right I have notice when trying to get on it from stopped it really struggles to get into 2nd even when pulling the stick hard and when you think its in gear you lift foot off clutch and it just growls away the gear box so I think it has a fault already

My original post applied to a different faulty gearbox thread. No idea why it's appeared here? As my first two posts were checked by admin first. Then posted. Sorry for the confusion lol.

Confusion over lol.
You could have it mapped.
I've owned 2, 2.0cdti's. First being the manual version, second and current an auto. I've kept mine standard. Enough power for me. Not having any dpf issues either. I have no interest in having it remapped. Altjough plenty of others have done so.
