So, I bought my Astra 1.3 CDTI Exclusiv last month.

It had steel wheels, a towbar attached and no modifications whatsoever! It's a small engine which is good for someone of my age who's insurance is sky high.

Here's a picture of it when it was still at the dealership:

Then, I had my three rear windows blacked out and fitted my new plates:

Then today, the thing I've been looking forward to more than anything, is fitting some alloys:

I've also got some tailored car mats inside and plan to have the courtesy lights changed to LEDs as well as get the steering wheel refurbished.

Happy with it so far - also like the fact that this 'poverty spec' Astra doesn't have the chrome trim around the windows and elsewhere. Still have the usual gimmicks like front & rear parking sensors and air conditioning.

Nice progress there.

Was it a genuine Vauxhall factory fitted towbar?

Thanks. It was a Witter towbar, which I'm selling actually. The eBay listing is below:

I had no use for one so took it off.

Got some better pictures yesterday:

Not so sure about the black alloys at the moment... I kind of like them but might get them refurbished in a different colour.

Putting some new bulbs in tomorrow - not LEDs (yet) but just some better, brighter and whiter ones. Will post pictures when I can.

So, just finished putting new DRL/sidelight bulbs in. What a faff! Got there in the end. Got a picture but doesn't really do it justice. For under £4 these are so much whiter and I'd imagine brighter at night too. If anyone wants the link let me know.

As I said in the picture they still look yellowy but definitely don't in person. Will be doing the dipped beams soon but they look trickier.

Looking good, I'm not sure on the black alloys either but I'm old school and only silver will do lol

Turns out they were £6 but still worth the money I'd say:

Will post when I put the dipped beams in too and let you know if they're any good.

Be careful with the cheap led bulbs. I put them in my daughters GTC . When you turn the headlights on and the DRL dim down they get very hot, and I mean hot enough to burn your fingers and possibly melt the holder.
I took them out and fitted Osram LED W3x16q 12v/3w Cool white. They were £20 but well worth the money and they look amazing.

Good advice, although I haven't fitted LEDs if that's what you mean. These are just normal halogen bulbs that are blue and provide a whiter and brighter light. I plan to go for LEDs in the future though.

New dipped beam bulbs are now in. Managed to do the driver's side one myself, fairly easily. I gave up on the passenger side though. I just couldn't see what I was doing so ended up taking it to a local auto shop who done it (annoyingly) in seconds but free of charge lol. Anyway, here's some pics:

Super happy with them, especially with there being no hassle worrying about canbus as they are just normal bulbs as opposed to LEDs.

Be mindful them blue bulbs can cause an MOT fail (just depends on the tester).

Haven't done anything in a while, mainly because I've been skint, it's been Christmas and because I crashed through a brick wall recently.

But, getting a 10" sub fitted on Friday, due to have the car checked over in the garage next week and then I'm getting the cosmetic damage repaired at the end of the month. I'll then hopefully be looking at making some more improvements/upgrades.
