I have a problem with glow plugs on my 2014 Astra 1.6 CDTI, the multi-function display intermittently comes up ‘Service Vehicle Soon’ so having access to an ‘Autel’ diagnostic tablet, I’ve read the DTC’s and have ‘P0673 - Cyl. 3 glow plug control circuit’, then able to use the tablet to do further tests, I have glow plug resistance readings on cyls. 1, 2 and 4 of between 0.61 - 0.63, and on cyl. 3 12.10!

So I’m fairly confident it is a faulty glow plug. But having looked at the electrical connection on top of the glow plug, I cant see how it comes off, it looks as though it can only be a pull off connection, but that doesn’t seem right to me (usually they are an eyelet held on by threaded nut, quite secure). I have tried wriggling and pulling but don’t want to break it!

Has anyone had experience of removing connector?

Changing glow plugs on this engine?

I’m assuming its best to change the set?

I have hopefully attached some pictures to help identify.

Any help or advice much appreciated, cheers, Jeff.

They are a standard glow plug by the look of it so shouldn't be too complicated

Thanks Jpbroad, that's a good start.  Just trying to see how the top connector attaches/disconnects.

So as a final conclusion, all is now sorted. The connectors are just a tight fit and pull off, but be very careful they dont break! Getting the glow plugs out was very easy, not tight at all. New ones fitted (Bosch 4 for less than £40 on internet) torqued to 15 Nm. And all is now well.

Thanks for everyone's help and support, cheers, Jeff.
