Funny noise from suspension - Cameron UK - 13:th-May-2014 When driving at low speeds gong over uneven surfaces I can hear a kind of knocking as the car moves around. Don't jack the car up, then try and reach in and grab one, see if it has some play in it. To identify the part, turn the steering full lock. Now look at the side with the wheel turned inwards looking into the arch at rear of wheel. You should see the suspension strut. Attached to this just under the spring seat you should see the link. This in turn attaches to the anti-roll bar. Now you know what to look for, straighten the steering and reach in and grab the link and give it a move about. If you feel a knock/movement, then that is the culprit. Sometimes to feel the movement, if you grab where the link attaches to the anti-roll bar and pull up and down on there it should show up any movement. Try not to do this with the steering on full lock as it puts too much strain on the link, and can and will mask the movement. Likewise when you jack up the car. Hopefully some of that makes sense!
