Yes sorry just looked again at the pinout should be 9 & 10 which you seem to have.

As your light has the male plug plug them together and see if the light work.

how too AMBIENT LIGHT AROUND THE GEAR GATOR - sotoskon - 14:th-Feb-2015

I open this thread in case i'll buy the light...As you said i have the pins 9,10 but maybe i' ll need and the pin 7.What do you think?

how too AMBIENT LIGHT AROUND THE GEAR GATOR - Rusty2009 - 14:th-Feb-2015

There is only 2 wires for LED power and ground. If you can get the LED with the the above plug it should just be plug and play and should also dim down.

So you think that i don't need the pin 7, because i'm confused.

how too AMBIENT LIGHT AROUND THE GEAR GATOR - tucpal - 14:th-Feb-2015

all this info is already in the how to

http://www.vxoc.org.uk/forum/Thread-how-too-AMBIENT-LIGHT-AROUND-THE-GEAR-GATOR

if you have power to the black and white wires on the body side plug
then you just need to connect the led to it 9 and 10 only
the other led dimming goes to buttons etc

how too AMBIENT LIGHT AROUND THE GEAR GATOR - Rusty2009 - 14:th-Feb-2015

No mate I misread the pin out as I was rushing when posting as had to take dogs out

You mean the plug under the gear knob?

how too AMBIENT LIGHT AROUND THE GEAR GATOR - tucpal - 14:th-Feb-2015

yep it is all in the how to

i think there may have been i wire color change if you have a GTC

how too AMBIENT LIGHT AROUND THE GEAR GATOR - tucpal - 14:th-Feb-2015

i see you have 12 volt already there in the black and white wires
so you only need to add two wires from the LED to the plug and it will work

there are multiple ways this can be done as not every car has the wires there
but it looks like you do

how too AMBIENT LIGHT AROUND THE GEAR GATOR - sotoskon - 14:th-Feb-2015

I think the only thing i have to do is to get the light with the big male plug from a dealer (as i have a manual handbrake) and connect it to my female that i post above. So i think i'll do my job...

how too AMBIENT LIGHT AROUND THE GEAR GATOR - tucpal - 14:th-Feb-2015

that sounds correct yes the Manuel handbrake one does just plug in to that connector.

how too AMBIENT LIGHT AROUND THE GEAR GATOR - sheppy1 - 18:th-Feb-2015

Hey guys, not sure if we ever came to a conclusion on this one but I won't have any issues keeping my LED wired into the TOP yellow wire in the headlight cable will I? i like how it's on no matter what position the headlight switch is at so will keep it connected to this yellow if it won't cause any issues in the future...

how too AMBIENT LIGHT AROUND THE GEAR GATOR - Rusty2009 - 18:th-Feb-2015

Should be fine mate

For this and door

how too AMBIENT LIGHT AROUND THE GEAR GATOR - panosmakis - 7:th-Mar-2015

how too AMBIENT LIGHT AROUND THE GEAR GATOR - Rusty2009 - 7:th-Mar-2015

The door ones will be dealer only, the gear one can be found on eBay on there own at times otherwise they come with the tunnel console.

how too AMBIENT LIGHT AROUND THE GEAR GATOR - sheppy1 - 7:th-Mar-2015

You can buy the gear led from vauxhall themselves for around 40 quid delivered. The part number is 13318427. They may have to order it I'm from Germany for you but they do stock and sell this part, that's how I got it

It's also on auto vaux for a little bit less:

how too AMBIENT LIGHT AROUND THE GEAR GATOR - Rusty2009 - 7:th-Mar-2015

Just bare in mind there are a few different part numbers depending on what you have fitted.

Thanks rusty and sheppy1!

how too AMBIENT LIGHT AROUND THE GEAR GATOR - Rusty2009 - 8:th-Mar-2015

I have added the parts numbers into the first post.

how too AMBIENT LIGHT AROUND THE GEAR GATOR - sotoskon - 11:th-Mar-2015

From the first post:
"There are Two Different Types see Picture below
they have Different Connectors one for the EPB
and the Bigger Connector for the car with Manuel Hand Brake.

Here is a list of the part numbers and also options.

For no 16
13318427 LAMP, ASSY., FRONT CONSOLE (EXCEPT CENTRE CONSOLE ARMREST)
13318427 LAMP, ASSY., FRONT CONSOLE (EXCEPT CENTRE CONSOLE ARMREST)

For no 17
13306445 LAMP, ASSY., FRONT CONSOLE (FOR CENTRE CONSOLE ARMREST, POC DBU) (FOR MANUAL PARK BRAKE)
13318427 LAMP, ASSY., FRONT CONSOLE (FOR CENTRE CONSOLE ARMREST, POC DBU) (FOR MANUAL PARK BRAKE)
13306445 LAMP, ASSY., FRONT CONSOLE (FOR CENTRE CONSOLE ARMREST, POC DBU) (FOR ELECTRIC PARK BRAKE)"

The No17 is for cars with electronic park brake...You attached these part numbers for cars with manual park brake...I'm confused...

how too AMBIENT LIGHT AROUND THE GEAR GATOR - tucpal - 11:th-Mar-2015

it looks like rusty has multiple posted that info in there he is offline till Thursday he will get back to you on this and correct the info for you

how too AMBIENT LIGHT AROUND THE GEAR GATOR - Rusty2009 - 11:th-Mar-2015

It's all based on what you have if you have fitted from factory, if you have manual handbrake with rear 12v you will need on 17. I've listed all the options as listed in The EPC.

Do you mean behind of the armrest? If yes i haven't this...I have manual park brake without armrest, so what's the partnumber that i need at all?

how too AMBIENT LIGHT AROUND THE GEAR GATOR - Rusty2009 - 12:th-Mar-2015

Do you have rear 12v socket (in the back not boot)?

Have you also had a look to see what connector you have?

how too AMBIENT LIGHT AROUND THE GEAR GATOR - sotoskon - 13:th-Mar-2015

RE: how too AMBIENT LIGHT AROUND THE GEAR GATOR - sotoskon - 9:th-May-2015

I made this today with "assistance" from the headlight plug...No photos but the result is as we all expect

RE: how too AMBIENT LIGHT AROUND THE GEAR GATOR - tucpal - 9:th-May-2015

all working then

RE: how too AMBIENT LIGHT AROUND THE GEAR GATOR - Dooks - 28:th-Jan-2016

Guys little help regarding ambient light.
I have astra j sport tourer, year 2013. The ambient light is there by default but it doesn't give that strong light. Connector is the big one.
I replaced the old one with new but its the same.

This is how it looks form close by night.

Any idea how to fix this?
I wll check with instrument the electricity, to check voltage

RE: how too AMBIENT LIGHT AROUND THE GEAR GATOR - sheppy1 - 29:th-Jan-2016

Hmmm that's odd! All I can suggest is extending the wire and splicing straight into the ambient light circuit or the headlight power cable behind the headlight switch... That's what I did and it works great

Maybe needs new LEDs??

how too AMBIENT LIGHT AROUND THE GEAR GATOR - Nemo - 29:th-Jan-2016

Could be either! Could even be a faulty/loose wire

The problem is that the car is still under warranty. I don't know if the warranty is lost if i do that...

I will measure tomorrow voltage. Should me 12v as well?

Mines got the 100k miles warranty too mate, bought the car new aswell and the only warranty you void by doing any mod is on the thing you've directly modded ... Like I've changed almost every part of my car so those aren't covered any more but the parts I haven't touched still are

RE: how too AMBIENT LIGHT AROUND THE GEAR GATOR - tucpal - 29:th-Jan-2016

to be honest they won't even bat an eyelid to that or even notice as it is standard on most models a genuine part

RE: how too AMBIENT LIGHT AROUND THE GEAR GATOR - cornishtaz - 30:th-Jan-2016

Silly question but have you turned the brightness down on the headlight switch. Other issue is have you tapped into a 5v supply instead.

You can check the led tube out by connecting to a known 12v supply

RE: how too AMBIENT LIGHT AROUND THE GEAR GATOR - Dooks - 30:th-Jan-2016

I tried with that first.

Here is the update:
At the main connector which comes to the led is black (-) and white(+) wire. I have there 12V. At the connector of the led i get 3.5V

I'll try these days to check if will be ok if i connect to the switch of the lights.

RE: how too AMBIENT LIGHT AROUND THE GEAR GATOR - cornishtaz - 30:th-Jan-2016

When you say led connector do you have a picture where your getting 3.5v

RE: how too AMBIENT LIGHT AROUND THE GEAR GATOR - Dooks - 31:st-Jan-2016

I didn't take the picture. I get 3.5V in the big connector of led. Where is red and white wire.
I was reading on croatian opel forum that sport toruer didn't go with ambient light around gear gator.
I dont know if is this only for croatian market, or for all... But could be that in this part is the problem.

But anyway i will take 12v from light switch. Hope that will be okay....
